Then the śrāddha was performed, with silver, with garments, and with unguents.
All of you, remaining here, saw me, endowed with happiness.
Hearing those words, the illustrious wife of the king
Clad, he shone exceedingly, like one consecrated at the final bath.
The holy places, the best rivers, the mountains, and the lakes,
There has never been, nor will there be, any other that grants liberation to the ancestors.
Having reached the sacred place at the end of the bright lunar first day, with urgency,
having made the city of the departed empty, as well as heaven and the netherworld,
when the maiden has gone to the sun, whoever offers the śrāddha ceremony,
we are fully satisfied and shall always attain the supreme state.
All that is exceedingly difficult for us has been witnessed by you.
Having thus proclaimed these words to the king, the sage, and the people,
they ascended the celestial vehicle and went to heaven, accompanied by the gods; then that tiger among kings, with his retinue and attendants,
having seen the greatness of the sacred place, bowed to the foremost sage.
This, O blessed one, is the greatness of Mathurā that has been told to you.
One who recites this with devotion in the presence of Brāhmaṇas,
this should not be recited by you to those without vows, nor to those who do not listen properly.
Among sacred places, it is the supreme; among dharmas, it is the highest dharma.
It should always be narrated, O greatly fortunate one, to the pious devotees; hearing this word of the Lord, the earth was filled with wonder.
The delighted goddess asked regarding the installation of the image.
Thus, in the glorious Varāha Purāṇa, in the divine scripture, is the one-hundred-and-eighty-first chapter named 'Description of Mathurā.'
Now, the establishment of worship for the image made of Madhuka wood; having heard thus, the earth, steadfast in her vow, attained the supreme place.
Having heard and filled with wonder, Vasundharā replied: 'Ah, the power of the field which you have described!'
Having heard this, through the essence of divinity, I have become free from affliction.
For my pleasure, O Viṣṇu, you ought to speak all of this.
How do you remain established in copper, bronze, and silver?
O Mādhava, how do you abide when approached by a celibate?
How do you remain, O Janārdana, on the left side, situated on a wall?
Hearing these words of the earth, the primordial boar replied: ‘O Vasundharā, when one must make an image, bring it here.’
O Vasundharā, one should indeed make the image according to the prescribed characteristics.
