"Each day, before bathing, he should go regularly."
"Remain abstinent from sin as long as you live."
"He will attain a good destination and be free from sin, without doubt. Such is the glory of this holy place in Mathura, O Earth."
So too is the greatness of the Krishna-Ganga and also of Kalinjar.
Whoever hears this, O beautiful one, with supreme faith,
all the sins accumulated over seven births are destroyed for him; he attains immortality and goes to the heavenly world.
Thus ends the one hundred seventy-sixth chapter, named 'The Greatness of Krishna-Ganga,' in the glorious Varaha Purana.
Sri Varaha said: Now hear about Samba's curse while he was living in Dvaraka.
As Krishna sat comfortably with his sons, wives, and children, he was offered water for washing the feet, arghya, a seat, and honey-mixture in a vessel.
Having found Krishna alone, the lord made his request; he was always desirable and beloved by women, O lord of the gods.
These noble maidens were given to you by the Lord of the gods, for the sake of play; and sixteen thousand of divine birth were bestowed upon you.
Upon seeing Sāmba, the minds of all of them are agitated, O Lord.
For your pleasure, O best of the gods, I have come to tell you this.
By performing rites, one attains residence in heaven; by the opposite, one goes to hell.
As long as there is speech, a person is so called.
In hell, a person is described by the wise as the opposite.
Of those seated on the seats, their agitation was indeed real.
For as long as the assembly seats remained, they were spread out separately.
Afterwards, Sāmba arrived and, before him, joined his hands in reverence.
Beholding the exceedingly handsome form of Sāmba, the noble women—
"Rise, all dear ones, and return to your own abodes."
Sāmba remained there, trembling, with hands joined in salutation.
But Kṛṣṇa began to relate the matter in detail to Nārada.
There is no moment, no privacy, and no concealment in action.
Some wore a single garment, some were fair, some dark, all of excellent complexion.
Upon seeing a handsome man, O best of sages, they are moved.
He is exceedingly proud, radiant, righteous, and endowed with great virtues.
And Nārada, having thus honored the words of Hari—
Just as a chariot cannot move with only one wheel,
So, by the mere glance of a man with clear vision, they become fulfilled in their purpose.
