Mother, teacher’s wife, sister, daughter, and daughter-in-law,
ब्रह्मघ्नश्च सुरापश्च स्त्रीघ्नश्च गुरुतल्पगः
A killer of a Brahmin, a drinker of liquor, a slayer of a woman, and one who approaches his teacher’s bed,
इति श्रुत्वा तु पांचाली ज्येष्ठभ्रातरमेव तम्
Having heard thus, Panchali regarded only her eldest brother,
रत्नं वस्त्रं धनं धान्यं यत्किंचित्तत्र संस्थितम्
Jewels, garments, wealth, grain—whatever was present there,
कालिञ्जरस्य भूषार्थमारामार्थं विशेषतः
For adorning Kalinjar, and especially for the purpose of gardens,
आत्मनश्च विशुद्ध्यर्थं प्रजज्वाल हुताशनम्
And for the purification of herself, she kindled the sacrificial fire,
पंचालोऽपि विधानेन नमस्कृत्य मुनिं गुरुम् 176.

मरणायोपयोग्यानि कृत्वा कर्माणि तत्र च

क्रीत्वा ग्रामांश्च तत्रैव ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ तदा

तेभ्योऽपि प्रददौ द्रव्यं सत्रार्थं च विभागशः

देवालयं च तत्रैव कृत्वा सन्दिश्य सार्थकान्
