Seeing the one called Vishranti, the long Vishnu, Keshava,
Thus, during the time of recitation, ritual, or meditation, having properly and constantly observed, as prescribed by Brahma—
Thus, in the Varaha Purana, in the ancient narrative, is the seventy-ninth chapter named 'The Greatness of Mathura.'
Sri Varaha said: Formerly, in Mathura, there occurred an event concerning the great soul Gokarna.
His wife was Suśīlā by name, endowed with virtues.
And the lovely-hipped woman lamented alone, her mind dejected.
There, at the root of a tree, a certain sage was seated.
Moved by compassion, he gently spoke to the woman, who was dear to him.
Hearing his words, that woman spoke to the sage.
O sage, I do not have that happiness of offspring, being unfortunate.

By the grace of the goddess, you shall have a son.

He, hearing those words, filled with joy and well-disposed,
O lady, my opinion is also the same as what the sage has said.
At the confluence of the Sarasvati, the two bathed and worshipped Gokarna.
Thus, ten years passed for them in pursuit of a son.
You two shall have a son, endowed with beauty and virtues.
By the grace of the gods, what was spoken shall come to pass.
At dawn, he gave endless wealth to the Lord of gods.
Then, in that virtuous woman, conception occurred; in the tenth month, she gave birth to a boy, radiant as the moon.

Thus, he also performed the feeding of solid food, the tonsure, and the sacred thread ceremony.
While giving gifts and worshipping the goddess,
Then, when the boy entered youth, seeing him childless,
His wives were endowed with youth, beauty, virtues, and lovely eyes.
By him, righteousness was begun, for the sake of the people and service to the gods.
There were water-pavilions, daily food, meals, and means of livelihood.
