विंशतिर्योजनानां तु माथुरं मम मण्डलम्
My region of Mathurā extends for twenty yojanas.
कर्णिकायां स्थितो देवि केशवः क्लेशनाशनः
O Devi, Keśava, the remover of suffering, abides at the center.
तत्र मध्ये मृता ये तु तेषां मुक्तिर्वसुन्धरे
O Vasundharā, those who die in the middle there attain liberation.
दृष्ट्वा तं देवदेवेशं किं मनः परितप्यते
Having seen that Lord of gods, why should the mind feel sorrow?
नासौ पतति संसारे यावदाभूतसंप्लवम्
He does not fall into worldly existence until the great dissolution.
यं दृष्ट्वा तु नरो याति मुक्तिं नास्त्यत्र संशयः १६३.
There is no doubt that whoever sees him attains liberation.
महाकायां सुरूपां च केशवाकारसन्निभाम्
Of great form, beautiful, and resembling the form of Keśava.
कृते युगे तु राजासीन्मान्धाता नाम नामतः
In the Kṛta Yuga, there was a king named Māndhātā.
तस्य तुष्टेन हि मया प्रतिमेयं समर्पिता
To him, pleased with his devotion, I gave this image.
यदा तु मथुरां प्राप्य लवणोऽयं निपातितः
When he reached Mathurā, this Lavaṇa was slain.
पुण्येयं प्रतिमा दिव्या तैजसी दिव्यरूपिणी
This image is holy, divine, made of brilliance, and of celestial form.
मनसा निर्मिता तेन वाराही प्रतिमा शुभा
By his mind, that auspicious image of Vārāhī was created.
इन्द्रेणाराधितो देवि कपिलो मुनिसत्तमः
O Devi, Kapila, the foremost of sages, was worshipped by Indra.
देवे लब्धे वरारोहे शक्रो हर्षसमन्वितः
When the boon was obtained by the beautiful one, Indra was filled with joy.
इन्द्रेण तु तदा प्राप्तं दिव्यं ज्ञानमनुत्तमम्
At that time, Indra received from him the supreme divine knowledge.
इन्द्रलोकं गतः सोऽथ स्वर्गं जेतुं महाबलः १६३.
Then, the mighty one went to Indra's world to conquer heaven.
रावणेन जिता देवाः शक्रश्चैव महाबलः
The gods were defeated by Ravana, and so was mighty Indra.
प्रविश्य रावणस्तत्र गृहे रत्नविभूषिते
There, Ravana entered a house adorned with jewels.
तेन संमोहितो देवि रावणो नाम राक्षसः
O Devi, that Rakshasa named Ravana was deluded by him.
दामोदर हषीकेश हिरण्याक्षविदारण
O Damodara, Hrishikesha, slayer of Hiranyaksha,
कूर्मरूप नमस्तेऽस्तु नारायण नमोस्तु ते
Salutations to you, O Narayana, in the form of a tortoise; salutations to you.
निरीक्षितुं न शक्नोमि प्रष्टुं चैव गुणव्रत
O virtuous one, I am unable to look at you or even to ask.
मम त्वं भक्तिनम्रस्य प्रसादं कुरु सर्वदा
Always bestow your grace upon me, who am bowed in devotion to you.
सौम्यरूपोऽभवद्देवो लोक नाथो जनार्दनः
The god, Janardana, lord of the worlds, assumed a gentle form.
देव त्वं स्वल्पकायोऽसि नाहमुद्धरणक्षमः १६३.
O god, you are of small body; I am not capable of lifting you.
अहं त्वां नेतुमिच्छामि पुरीं लङ्कामनुत्तमाम्
I wish to take you to the unsurpassed city of Lanka.
श्रीवराह उवाच कपिलस्य वचः श्रुत्वा रावणो वाक्य मब्रवीत्
Shri Varaha said: Hearing the words of Kapila, Ravana spoke.
त्वद्दर्शनात्समुत्पन्ना भक्तिरव्यभिचारिणी
Unwavering devotion has arisen in me from seeing you.
भक्तिमुद्वहतस्तस्य लघु वेषोऽभवत्तदा
As he bore devotion, his form became light.
आनयामास लङ्कायां स्थापयित्वा स्वके गृहे
He brought him to Lanka, after placing him in his own house.
