तत्राहं क्रीडयिष्यामि गोभिर् गोपालकैः सह
There I shall sport together with cows and cowherds.
तत्र कुण्डे महाभागे बहुगुल्मलतावृते
There, in that great and blessed pool, thickly covered with many bushes and creepers,
गन्धर्वैरप्सरोभिश्च क्रीडमानः स मोदते
he delights, playing with Gandharvas and Apsarases.
पुनरन्यत्प्रवक्ष्यामि महापातकनाशनम् 156.
Now I shall tell you another, which destroys great sins.
तीर्थं शतगुणं पुण्यं यत्र केशी निपातितः
The holy place is a hundred times more meritorious, where Keśī was slain.
तस्माच्छतगुणं पुण्यं नात्र कार्या विचारणा
Therefore, its merit is a hundredfold; there is no need for doubt here.
तस्मिन्पिण्डप्रदानेन गयातुल्य फलं भवेत्
By offering piṇḍa there, one obtains the same result as at Gayā.
सूर्यतीर्थेषु वसुधे द्वादशादित्यसंज्ञिके
At the Sūrya-tīrthas on earth, named after the twelve Ādityas,
कालियो दमितस्तत्र आदित्याः स्थापिता मया
There Kāliya was subdued, and the Ādityas were established by me.
आदित्या ऊचुः अस्मिंस्तीर्थवरे स्नानमस्माकं संप्रदीयताम्
The Ādityas said: 'Let bathing at this excellent tīrtha be granted to us.'
आदित्यानां वचः श्रुत्वा क्रीडां कृत्वा वसुन्धरे
Hearing the words of the Ādityas, after sporting, O Earth,
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्मम लोकं स गच्छति
then, there, one gives up the life-breath and goes to my world.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे मथुरामाहात्म्ये मथुराप्रादुर्भावो नाम षट्पंचाशदधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Varāha Purāṇa, in the section on the greatness of Mathurā, is the one hundred and fifty-sixth chapter, called 'The Manifestation of Mathurā.'
अथ मलयार्जुनतीर्थादिस्नानादिप्रशंसा यमुनापारमुल्लङ्घ्य तत्रैव च महामुने
Now, the praise of bathing and related acts at Malayārjuna and other tīrthas: having crossed the Yamunā there itself, O great sage,
पर्यस्तं तत्र शकटं भिन्नभाण्डकुटीघटम्
There, a cart was overturned, and the pots and jars of the hut were broken.
द्वादश्यां शुक्लपक्षस्य ज्येष्ठमासे वसुन्धरे
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight, in the month of Jyeṣṭha, O Earth,
ज्येष्ठस्य शुक्लद्वादश्यां स्नात्वा सुनियतेन्द्रियः
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Jyeshtha, having bathed, with senses well restrained,
यमुनासलिले स्नातः शुचिर्भूत्वा जितेन्द्रियः
Having bathed in the waters of the Yamuna, becoming pure and mastering the senses,
अपि चास्मत्कुले जातः कालिन्दीसलिले प्लुतः
Even one born in our lineage, immersed in the waters of Kalindi,
इति गायन्ति पितरः परलोकगताः सदा
Thus do the ancestors, who have gone to the other world, always sing,
धन्योऽसौ पिण्डनिर्वापं यमुनायां करिष्यति
Blessed is he who will perform the offering of oblations in the Yamuna.
तत्र स्नातो नरो देवि रुद्रलोके महीयते
One who bathes there, O Devi, is honored in the realm of Rudra.
तत्र स्नातो नरो याति मम लोकं न संशयः 157.
One who bathes there, without doubt, attains my world.
दृश्यन्तेऽहरहस्तत्र आदित्याः शुभकारिणः
There, every day, the auspicious Adityas are seen.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः सूर्यलोकं व्रजेन्नरः
Freed from all sins, a man attains the world of the Sun.
अर्कस्थलसमीपे तु कूपं तु विमलोदकम्
Near the place of the Sun, there is a well with pure water.
तत्र स्नानेन वसुधे स्वच्छन्दगमनालयः
By bathing there, O Earth, one attains a dwelling where movement is at will.
तत्र वीरस्थलं नाम क्षेत्रं गुह्यं परं मम
There is a place called Virasthala, a secret and supreme field of mine.
यस्तत्र कुरुते स्नानमेकरात्रोषितो नरः
He who bathes there, having stayed one night, O Earth,
अथाऽत्र मुञ्चते प्राणान्ममलोकं स गच्छति
Then, departing from life there, he attains my world.
