I have come from the night vigil for Hari, for Vishnu, the Lord of the worlds.
Either according to proper rule, or as you desire.
By that truth, O terrible Brahmarakshasa, consume me.
Then the Brahmarakshasa spoke sweet words to Sudhana.
You are a merchant, and very wise; such is the path you have attained.
By the power of truth and virtue, may I attain liberation; I will not take the merit of your dance as food for a man.
Whether half, or the whole, or even half of a watch of time,
O best of merchants, give me the merit of a single dance; I will not give you merit as stated—act accordingly.
By what fault in action did you attain the state of a Rakshasa?
Hearing Sudhana's words, the Rakshasa laughed and spoke.
Agnidatta, indeed, was the name of a foremost Brahmin of the Chandasa lineage.
Having died with a desire for a fine house, he attained the state of a Rakshasa.
Grant me, O excellent merchant, the merit of a single period of rest.
Well done, O Rakshasa; I have given you a single dance.
Śrī Varāha said: Seeing the deity standing before him, he departed to the earth.
The god of gods, Janardana, spoke sweet words.
Ascend the excellent celestial vehicle and go to my world.
Sudhana, even with his body and his family, went to heaven.
O Vasundhara, the power of this sacred place has thus been told to you.
By the power of that sacred place, Sudhana attained liberation.
For one who bathes there, O Vasundhara, the fruit of the Rājasūya sacrifice is obtained.
A man performing the release of a bull saves all his lineage.
By him, the ancestors and always the great-grandfathers are delivered.
Thus, in the glorious Varāha Purāṇa, in the greatness of Mathurā, the chapter named 'The Power of Akūra Tīrtha', being the one hundred and fifty-fifth.
Now, the manifestation of Mathurā: I shall describe the sacred place called Vatsakrīḍanaka, which is supreme to me.
By merely bathing there, a man attains the world of the wind.
I shall tell you another, listen to it, O Vasundhara.
With sāla, tāla, tamāla, and arjuna trees as well.
There, having bathed at Bhāṇḍīraka, disciplined and restrained in diet,
there, then, one gives up the life-breath and attains my world.
