यमुना यत्र सुवहा नित्यं सन्निहिता ध्रुवम्
Where the Yamunā, ever pure, is constantly present, unchanging.
गङ्गां प्राप्य प्रयागे या वेणीति प्रथिता भुवि 152.
Having reached the Gaṅgā at Prayāga, which is renowned on earth as the Veṇī.
यमुना विश्रुता देवि नात्र कार्या विचारणा
The Yamunā is famous there, O goddess; there is no need for further inquiry.
येषु स्नाने नरो देवि मम लोके महीयते
In those places where one bathes, O goddess, one is honored in my world.
न जायत स मर्त्त्येषु जायते च चतुर्भुजः
He is not born among mortals; instead, he is born four-armed.
तथात्र मुञ्चते प्राणान्मम लोकं स गच्छति
Thus, departing from life there, he goes to my world.
यस्मिन्स्नातो नरो देवि मम लोकं प्रपद्यते
He who bathes there, O goddess, attains my world.
तत्फलं लभते देवि दृष्ट्वा देवं गतश्रमः
He obtains that fruit, O goddess, having seen the deity, freed from fatigue.
तत्फलं लभते स्नातो यथा विश्रान्तिसंज्ञके
He obtains that fruit by bathing, just as in the place called Viśrānti.
कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणे द्वे तु विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति
By making two circumambulations, he goes to Viṣṇu's world.
यस्मिन्स्नातो नरो देवि मम लोकं प्रपद्यते
O Devi, whoever bathes there attains my realm.
यस्मिन्स्नातो नरो देवि अग्निष्टोमफलं लभेत् 152.
O Devi, whoever bathes there obtains the fruit of an Agniṣṭoma sacrifice.
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्मम लोके स गच्छति
Then, if one gives up life there, he goes to my world.
स्नानमात्रेण तत्रापि नाकपृष्ठे स मोदते
Even merely by bathing there, he rejoices in the heights of heaven.
तस्मिन्स्नातो नरो देवि मम लोके महीयते
O Devi, whoever bathes there is honored in my realm.
पांचालविषये देवि काम्पिल्यं च पुरोत्तमम्
O Devi, in the land of the Pāñcālas, there is the foremost city, Kāmpilya.
तस्मिंस्तु वसते देवि तिंदुको नाम नापितः
O Devi, in that place lived a barber named Tiṃduka.
कालेन महता तस्य कुटुम्बं च क्षयं गतम्
Over a long period, his family came to ruin.
सर्वसंगं परित्यज्य सोऽगच्छन्मथुरां तदा
Having abandoned all attachments, he then went to Mathurā.
तस्य कर्मशतं कृत्वा स्नात्वैव यमुनां नदीम्
There, after performing a hundred deeds and bathing in the Yamunā river,
ततः कालेन महता पंचत्वं समुपागतः
After a long time, he reached the state of death.
तस्मिन् वरगृहे देवि ब्राह्मणो योगिनां वरः 152.
O Devi, in that splendid house was a Brāhmaṇa, foremost among yogis.
तत्तीर्थस्य प्रभावेण जाता मुक्तिः सुदुर्ल्लभा
By the power of that holy place, liberation, so rare, was attained.
वैरोचनेन बलिना सूर्यस्त्वाराधितः पुरा
Once, the mighty Vairochana worshipped the Sun.
ऊर्द्ध्वबाहुर्निराहारस्तताप परमं तपः
With arms raised and fasting, he performed supreme austerity.
तस्य प्रसन्नो भगवान् द्युमणिः प्रत्यभाषत
The blessed Lord, the radiant Sun, pleased, spoke to him.
बलिरुवाच वित्तेनापि विहीनस्य कुटुम्बभरणं कृतः
Bali said: Even lacking wealth, I have supported my family.
मुकुटात्तस्य वै सूर्यो ददौ चिन्तामणिं ततः
Then, from his crown, the Sun gave him a wish-fulfilling gem.
तस्मिंस्तीर्थे नरः स्नातः सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते
A man who bathes at that holy place is freed from all sins.
आदित्याहनि संक्रान्तौ ग्रहणे चन्द्रसूर्ययोः
On the day of the sun, at the time of the solstice, or during an eclipse of the moon or sun,
