ततः पूर्वेण पार्श्वेन समा धारा पतेच्छुभा
From the eastern side, an auspicious stream of equal measure falls.
पुनरस्योत्तरे पार्श्वे सुवर्णसदृशोपमा
Again, on its northern side, there is one resembling gold.
अथ पश्चिमपार्श्वेन यजुर्वेदेन संयुता
Then, on the western side, there is one associated with the Yajur Veda.
एका धारा पतत्यत्र इन्द्रगोपकसन्निभा
One stream falls here, resembling the color of the indragopa insect.
ब्रह्मलोकं समासाद्य ब्रह्मणा सह मोदते
Reaching the world of Brahma, one rejoices there together with Brahma.
सिद्धिकामेन मर्त्येन गन्तव्यं नात्र संशयः 151.
A mortal who desires success must go there—of this there is no doubt.
न तस्य कर्म विद्येत स एवमपि संस्थितः
For him, no action remains, even if he stays thus.
पवित्राणां पवित्रं तु न देयं यस्य कस्यचित्
The purest of the pure should not be given to just anyone.
तारितानि कुलानि स्युरुभयत्र दशापि च
Ten generations of both paternal and maternal lineages are liberated.
यदीच्छेत्परमां सिद्धिं सर्वसंसारमोक्षणीम्
If one desires the highest attainment, the liberation from all worldly existence,
माहात्म्यं पद्मपत्राक्षि गुह्यं यच्च महौजसम्
O lotus-eyed one, this greatness is secret and most powerful.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे भगवच्छास्त्रे लोहार्गलमाहात्म्यं नामैकपंचाशदधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred and fifty-first chapter, entitled 'The Greatness of Lohargala,' in the holy Varaha Purana.
अथ मथुरातीर्थ प्रशंसा श्रुत्वा देवस्य माहात्म्यं लोहार्गलनिवासिनः
Now, the praise of the Mathura sacred place: Having heard of the greatness of the god, the residents of Lohargala—
धरण्युवाच त्वत्प्रसादाच्च देवेश श्रुतं शास्त्रं महौजसम्
The Earth said: 'By your grace, O Lord of gods, this most powerful scripture has been heard.'
तव शिष्या च दासी च त्वामहं शरणङ्गता
I am your disciple and your servant, and I have come to you for refuge.
तव सम्भावनाद्देव जातास्मि कनकोज्ज्वला
By your favor, O Lord, I have become radiant like gold.
जगद्धातुर्जगच्छास्त्रकृते न हि परिश्रमः
For the creator of the world, there is no fatigue in establishing the laws of the universe.
इति कृत्वा च मे देव त्वाह्लादो हृदि वर्त्तते
Having done this, O Lord, joy abides in my heart.
तीर्थं तद्वद कल्याणं तीर्थानामुत्तमोत्तमम्
Tell me, then, of that auspicious and most excellent of holy places.
श्रीवराह उवाच समानं मथुराया हि प्रियं मम वसुन्धरे
Śrī Varāha said: O Earth, Mathurā is equally dear to me.
सूत उवाच प्रणम्य शिरसा देवी वराहं पुनरब्रवीत्
Sūta said: Bowing her head, the goddess again addressed Varāha.
पृथिव्युवाच एतान्हित्वा महाभाग मथुरां किं प्रशंसति ।। 152.
Pṛthivī said: Why, O greatly fortunate one, does he praise Mathurā above these others?
श्रीवराह उवाच मथुरेति च विख्यातं तस्मान्नास्ति परं मम
Śrī Varāha said: Mathurā is renowned by that name; for me, there is nothing higher.
सा रम्या च सुशस्ता च जन्मभूमिस्तथा मम
It is beautiful, praiseworthy, and is also my birthplace.
तत्र वासी नरो याति मोक्षं नास्त्यत्र संशयः
A person dwelling there attains liberation; there is no doubt about this.
तत्फलं लभते देवि मथुरायां दिने दिने
O goddess, one obtains that result in Mathurā day by day.
तत्फलं लभते देवि मथुरायां क्षणेन हि
O goddess, one obtains that result in Mathurā even in a moment.
तत्फलं लभते देवि मथुरायां जितेन्द्रियः
O goddess, one who has mastered the senses obtains that result in Mathurā.
मूढो भ्रमति संसारे मोहितो मम मायया
Deluded by my illusion, the ignorant wanders in worldly existence.
अन्येनोच्चारितं शश्वत्सोऽपि पापैः प्रमुच्यते
Even if uttered by another, one is always freed from sins.
