वासिष्ठं लोकमासाद्य मोदते नात्र संशयः ।४३ वासिष्ठं लोकमुत्सृज्य मम लोकं प्रपद्यते
Having reached the world of Vasiṣṭha, he rejoices—there is no doubt; leaving the world of Vasiṣṭha, he attains my realm.
पंच धाराः पतन्त्यत्र हिमकूटविनिःसृताः
Here, five streams fall, emerging from snowy peaks.
स तत्र गच्छेद्वै भूमे यत्र पंचशिखो मुनिः
There he goes to the land where the sage Pañcaśikha resides.
पंचचूडं समुत्सृज्य स याति परमां गतिम्
Leaving Pañcacūḍa behind, he attains the supreme state.
सप्त धाराः पतन्त्यत्र हिमवत्पर्वतस्थिताः
Here, seven streams fall, situated on the Himavat mountain.
मोदते ऋषिलोकेषु ऋषिकन्याभिसंवृतः
He delights in the worlds of the sages, surrounded by the daughters of the sages.
सप्तर्षीन्स समुत्सृज्य मोदते मम संस्थितः 151.
Departing from the seven sages, he rejoices, established in my realm.
तत्र धारा पतत्येका शरभङ्गश्रिता नदी
There, a single stream falls, the river associated with Śarabhaṅga.
मोदते तस्य लोकेषु ऋषिकन्याप्रमोदितः
He delights in those worlds, rejoicing with the daughters of the sages.
शरभङ्गं समुत्सृज्य मम लोके महीयते
Leaving Śarabhaṅga behind, he is honored in my world.
भूमिं नीत्वा जलं तत्र तिष्ठत्येव वरानने
Having taken the earth, the water remains there, O noble-faced one.
गच्छत्यङ्गिरसो लोकं सुखभागी न संशयः
Angiras goes to his world, enjoying happiness without doubt.
अग्निलोकं समुत्सृज्य मम लोकं स गच्छति
Leaving the world of Agni, he attains my world.
धारा चैका पतत्यत्र हिमकूटसमाश्रिता
A single stream falls here, resting upon the snowy peak.
गत्वा बृहस्पतेर्लोकं मुनिकन्याभिमोदितः
Having reached the world of Bṛhaspati, he is delighted by the sage’s daughters.
सोऽपि याति परां सिद्धिं समुत्सृज्य बृहस्पतिम्
He too attains supreme perfection, leaving Bṛhaspati behind.
धारा चैका पतत्यत्र दृश्यते हिमसंश्रयात् 151.
A single stream falls here, visible from the snowy abode.
गत्वा बृहस्पतेर्लोकं मुनिकन्याभिमोहितः
Having reached the world of Bṛhaspati, he is enchanted by the sage’s daughters.
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्मम कर्मपरायणः
Then, devoted to my deeds, he relinquishes his life here.
कार्त्तिकेयस्य कुण्डं तु गुह्यं क्षेत्रं परं मम
The pool of Kārttikeya is a secret, supreme field of mine.
तत्र स्नानं प्रकुर्वीत षष्ठकालोषितो नरः
There, a man should bathe after dwelling for six days.
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्कृत्वा चान्द्रायणं शुचिः
Then, having performed the Cāndrāyaṇa rite and being pure, he relinquishes his life here.
उमाकुण्डमिति ख्यातं तस्मिन्क्षेत्रे परं मम
It is known as Umā’s pool, the supreme field of mine.
तत्र स्नानं तु कुर्वीत दशरात्रोषितो नरः
There, a man should bathe after dwelling for ten nights.
अथ प्राणान्प्रमुंचेत दशरात्रोषितो नरः
Then, after dwelling for ten nights, a man relinquishes his life.
महेश्वरस्य वै कुण्डं यत्र चोद्वाहिता उमा
It is the pool of Maheśvara, where Umā was led in marriage.
तिस्रो धाराः पतन्त्यत्र हिमवत्पर्वताश्रिताः 151.
Three streams descend here, originating from the Himalaya mountains.
तत्र स्नानं तु कुर्वीत द्वादशाहोषितो नरः
There, a man who has observed a twelve-day vow should bathe.
अथात्र मुञ्चते प्राणान्कृत्वा कर्म सुदुष्करम्
Then, if one gives up life here after performing a most difficult act,
प्रख्यातं ब्रह्मकुण्डं तु वेदा यत्र समुत्थिताः
This is the renowned Brahma-kunda, where the Vedas arose.
