मार्गणा मे धनुस्तत्र अक्षसूत्रं कमण्डलुः
My arrows and bow are there, as well as an axle-cord and water-pot.
श्वेतपर्वतमारुह्य पतमानः कुरून्बहून्
Ascending the White Mountain, I descend upon many Kurus.
अनेकान्येव रूपाणि पातयित्वा नभस्तलात्
Having cast down many forms from the sky,
सूत उवाच विस्मयं परमं प्राप्तो विष्णुमायोपबृंहितः
Sūta said: Filled with supreme wonder, enhanced by Viṣṇu's power,
ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो ब्रह्मपुत्रो महामतिः
Then, overwhelmed with amazement, the wise son of Brahmā,
सनत्कुमार उवाच देवि यल्लोकनाथस्य साक्षाद्दर्शनमागता
Sanatkumāra said: O goddess, you have directly beheld the Lord of the worlds.
पद्मपत्रविशालाक्षो यत्त्वया परिभाषितः
He, with eyes broad as lotus petals, whom you addressed,
यथा यथा वदसि च धर्मसंहितं गुह्यं परं देववरप्रणीतम् 151.
As you recount, the supreme and secret dharma, composed by the best of gods,
ततः स पुण्डरीकाक्षः किमाचष्ट ततः परम्
Then, what did that lotus-eyed one say next?
( सूतउवाच) उवाच मधुरं वाक्यमाभाष्य ब्रह्मणः सुतम्
(Sūta said:) He spoke sweet words, addressing the son of Brahmā.
शृणु वत्स जगन्नाथो यथा मामाह चोदितः एवं तत्रैव कर्माणि क्रियन्ते विधिपूर्वकम्
Listen, child, the Lord of the universe, as instructed, spoke to me thus; in that very place, actions are performed according to prescribed rules.
शोधकानि च पापानां मृदूनि च शुभानि च
There are purifying acts for sins, gentle ones, and auspicious ones as well.
नान्यं वहन्ति ते चाश्वा मम वाहा दुरत्ययाः
No other bears them, and my steeds are difficult to surpass.
चतुर्धाराः पतन्त्यत्र शङ्खवर्णा मनोजवाः
There, four streams fall, swift as the mind and white as conch shells.
लोकं चैत्राङ्गदं गत्वा गन्धर्वैः सह मोदते
Having reached the world of Citrāṅgada, he delights there together with the Gandharvas.
गन्धर्वलोकमुत्सृज्य मम लोकं स गच्छति
Leaving the Gandharva world behind, he attains my realm.
पंच धाराः पतन्त्यत्र तालवृक्षसमोपमाः
Here, five streams fall, resembling palm trees.
देवर्षिनारदं पश्येन्मोदते तेन वै समम् 151.
He beholds the divine sage Nārada and rejoices together with him.
प्रमुच्य नारदं द्विव्यं ममलोकं च गच्छति
Departing from Nārada, he attains my divine realm.
धाराः पतन्ति तिस्रस्तु न स्थूला नाति वै कृशाः
Three streams fall here, neither thick nor too slender.
वासिष्ठं लोकमासाद्य मोदते नात्र संशयः ।४३ वासिष्ठं लोकमुत्सृज्य मम लोकं प्रपद्यते
Having reached the world of Vasiṣṭha, he rejoices—there is no doubt; leaving the world of Vasiṣṭha, he attains my realm.
पंच धाराः पतन्त्यत्र हिमकूटविनिःसृताः
Here, five streams fall, emerging from snowy peaks.
स तत्र गच्छेद्वै भूमे यत्र पंचशिखो मुनिः
There he goes to the land where the sage Pañcaśikha resides.
पंचचूडं समुत्सृज्य स याति परमां गतिम्
Leaving Pañcacūḍa behind, he attains the supreme state.
सप्त धाराः पतन्त्यत्र हिमवत्पर्वतस्थिताः
Here, seven streams fall, situated on the Himavat mountain.
मोदते ऋषिलोकेषु ऋषिकन्याभिसंवृतः
He delights in the worlds of the sages, surrounded by the daughters of the sages.
सप्तर्षीन्स समुत्सृज्य मोदते मम संस्थितः 151.
Departing from the seven sages, he rejoices, established in my realm.
तत्र धारा पतत्येका शरभङ्गश्रिता नदी
There, a single stream falls, the river associated with Śarabhaṅga.
मोदते तस्य लोकेषु ऋषिकन्याप्रमोदितः
He delights in those worlds, rejoicing with the daughters of the sages.
शरभङ्गं समुत्सृज्य मम लोके महीयते
Leaving Śarabhaṅga behind, he is honored in my world.
