विष्णुसंक्रमणं नाम तस्मिन्क्षेत्रे परे मम
In that field, the supreme crossing of Vishnu is named.
तत्र कुंडं महाभागे मणिपूरगिरा श्रुतम्
There, O noble lady, is a pond known by the mountain Maṇipūra.
सूर्यलोकं समुत्सृज्य मम लोके महीयते
Leaving the world of the sun, he is honored in my own realm.
पापिनां यस्तु दुर्दर्शः सुदृश्यः पुण्यचारिणाम्
He is difficult to behold for sinners, but easily seen by the virtuous.
चतुर्विंशतिद्वादश्यां मध्याह्ने तु दिवाकरे
On the twenty-fourth Dvādaśī, at midday, when the sun is at its zenith,
उच्चश्चैव विशालश्च मनोज्ञश्चैव शीतलः
He is high, vast, delightful, and indeed cool.
ते लभन्ते परां सिद्धिमेवमेतन्न संशयः
They attain supreme perfection in this way—of this there is no doubt.
सर्वभागवतप्रीतिं समुद्रतटमाश्रितः 149.
Residing on the ocean shore, he receives the love of all devotees of the Lord.
त्रयस्तत्रैव तिष्ठामो द्वारकायां यशस्विनि
We three remain there in glorious Dvārakā.
त्रिंशद्योजनविस्तारः सर्वतस्तु दिशो दश
It extends thirty yojanas in breadth, and in all directions, ten each.
अदीर्घेणैव कालेन प्राप्नुवंति परां गतिम्
In but a short time, they attain the highest state.
धर्माणां परमो धर्मो द्युतीनां परमा द्युतिः
Of all dharmas, this is the supreme dharma; of all splendors, this is the highest splendor.
श्रुतीनां परमं श्रेष्ठं तपसा च परं तपः
Of all the Vedas, this is the most excellent; of all austerities, this is the highest austerity.
यदीच्छेत्परमां सिद्धिं मम लोकं स गच्छति
If one desires supreme perfection, he goes to my world.
सकुल्यास्तारितास्तेन सप्त सप्त च सप्त च
By him, seven generations of his family are carried across.
उचितेनोपचारेण किमन्यत्परिपृच्छति
With proper worship, what more does he ask?
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे भगवच्छास्त्रे द्वारकामाहात्म्यं नामैकोनपंचाशदधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred forty-ninth chapter, entitled 'The Glory of Dvārakā,' in the holy Varāha Purāṇa.
अथ सानन्दूरमाहात्म्यम् द्वारकायास्तु माहात्म्यं श्रुत्वा ह्येतत्सुभाषितम्
Now, the greatness of Sānandūra: Having heard this well-spoken account of the glory of Dvārakā,
धरण्युवाच श्रुत्वैतत्परमं पुण्यं प्राप्तास्मि परमां श्रियम्
The Earth said: Having heard this supreme merit, I have attained the highest prosperity.
एतस्मादपि चेद्गुह्यं लोकनाथ जनार्दन
O Lord of the worlds, Janārdana, if there is anything even more secret than this—
ततो महीवचः श्रुत्वा विष्णुः कमललोचनः
Then, having heard the words of the Earth, Viṣṇu, the lotus-eyed one,
श्रीवराह उवाच उत्तरे तु समुद्रस्य मलयस्य तु दक्षिणे
Śrī Varāha said: To the north of the ocean and to the south of the Malaya mountains,
तत्र तिष्ठामि वसुधे उदीचीं दिशमाश्रितः
There I reside, O Earth, established facing the northern direction.
आयसीं तां वदन्त्येके अन्ये ताम्रमयीं तया
Some call it iron, others say it is made of copper,
शिलामयीमित्यपरे महदाश्चर्यरूपिणीम्
Still others say it is made of stone, of a wondrous and marvelous form.
मनुजा यत्र मुच्यन्ते गताः संसारसागरम्
There, humans are freed who have crossed the ocean of worldly existence.
सौवर्णं दृश्यते पद्मं मध्याह्ने तु दिवाकरे 150.
At midday, when the sun is at its height, a golden lotus is seen.
तत्रापि शृणु चाश्चर्यं यश्चापि परिवर्त्तते
There too, listen to a wonder: whatever turns around there,
समुद्रमध्ये तिष्ठन्तं कोऽपि तत्र न पश्यति
Though standing in the midst of the ocean, no one sees it there.
मम भक्ता हि पश्यंति विद्यमाना स्वकर्मणा
Yet my devotees, present through their own actions, do see it.
