आचार्याणां गुणान्भुक्त्वा मम कर्मपथे स्थिताः
Having enjoyed the virtues of teachers, they remain upon the path of my actions.
तस्मिन्क्षेत्रे महाभागे अस्ति गुह्यं परं मम
In that field, O noble one, there exists my supreme secret.
तत्र स्नानं प्रकुर्वीत पंचकालोषितो नरः
There, a man should bathe, having observed the five prescribed times.
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्कृतकृत्यो भवेन्नरः
Then, departing from life there, a man becomes one who has fulfilled his purpose.
भृगुकुण्डेति विख्यातमत्र गुह्यं परं मम
Bhṛgukuṇḍa is renowned here; in this place lies my supreme secret.
तत्र स्नानं तु कुर्वीत मम मार्गानुसारकः 148.
There, one should bathe, following my path.
ध्रुवो यत्र तु तिष्ठेत मेरुशृंगे शिलोच्चये
Where Dhruva stands, upon the summit of Meru, amidst the rocky heights—
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान् मम कर्मपथे स्थितः
There, departing from life, one who remains upon my path of action—
मणिकुण्डेति विख्यातं तत्र गुह्यं परं मम
Maṇikuṇḍa is renowned there; in that place lies my supreme secret.
अगाधं तं हृदं भद्रे देवानामपि दुर्लभम्
That deep heart, O blessed one, is difficult even for the gods to attain.
तत्र स्नानं प्रकुर्वीत पंचकालोषितो नरः
There, a man should bathe, having observed the five prescribed times.
अथात्र मुंचते प्राणान्मम कर्मपथे स्थितः
Then, departing from life there, one who remains upon my path of action—
सुगुह्यं पूर्वपार्श्वेन मम क्षेत्रस्य सुन्दरि
A most secret place lies on the eastern side of my field, O beautiful one.
तत्र स्नानं तु कुर्वीत मम लोकं स गच्छति
There, one should bathe; he attains my world.
पंचक्रोशाददूराद्वै मम क्षेत्रस्य पश्चिमे
At a distance of five krośas to the west of my sacred field,
सुवर्णाभं मारकतमगाधं निर्मितं मया 148.
there is a place, golden in appearance, deep as an emerald, which I have fashioned.
धुन्वानो दुष्करं कर्म पंचभूतात्मनिष्ठितम्
Performing arduous deeds, established in the self of the five elements,
गत्वेन्द्रलोकं सुश्रोणि देवैः सह स मोदते
he attains Indra's realm, O fair-hipped one, and rejoices there together with the gods.
इन्द्रलोकं परित्यज्य मम लोकं प्रपद्यते
Abandoning Indra's realm, he attains my own world.
वर्त्तते च विशालाक्षि मणिपूरे गिरौ मम
And, O wide-eyed one, he dwells on my mountain, Maṇipūra.
धूते पापे च सुश्रोणि धारा च पतति क्षितौ
When his sins are washed away, O lovely-hipped one, the stream descends to the earth.
धूतपापं न प्रविशेत्प्रविशत्यमले नरे
One whose sins are cleansed does not enter; only the pure man enters.
यत्र तिष्ठाम्यहं देवि पश्चिमां दिशमाश्रितः
There, O goddess, I reside, established in the western direction.
मम चैव प्रभावेण सर्वकालफलोदयम्
And by my own power, there is the arising of fruits at all times.
भक्तं भागवतं शुद्धं मम कर्मव्यवस्थितम्
A devotee, a pure Bhāgavata, devoted to my prescribed actions,
तत्र गत्वा वरारोहे उदिते च दिवाकरे 148.
having gone there, O beautiful one, at sunrise,
एकचित्तेन गन्तव्यं धृतिं कृत्वा सुपुष्कलाम्
one should go with single-mindedness, having gathered abundant resolve.
पंचरात्रेण लभते तस्मिन्भूतगिरौ मम
In five nights, he obtains (the fruit) on that mountain of mine.
पुनर्नारायणं तत्र प्रोवाच विनयान्विता
Then again, Nārāyaṇa was addressed there by her, full of humility.
एतन्नामनिरुक्तिं त्वं वक्तुमर्हसि साम्प्रतम्
"You ought now to declare the etymology of this name."
