तारितानि कुलान्येभिः सप्त सप्त च सप्त च
By these, seven times seven families are delivered.
देयं पुत्राय शिष्याय यश्च जानाति सेवितुम्
It should be given to a son, to a disciple, or to one who knows how to serve.
श्लोकं वा यदि वा पादं यदीच्छेत्परमां गतिम्
Whether a verse or even a line—whoever desires the highest state.
तिष्ठामि परया प्रीत्या दिशं पूर्वामुपाश्रितः
With supreme affection, I remain, having taken up the eastern direction.
एवं रहस्यं गुह्यं च सर्वकर्मसुखावहम्
Thus this secret, hidden and bringing happiness in all actions.
मम क्षेत्रं महाभागे यत्त्वया परिपृच्छितम्
O highly fortunate one, you have asked about my sacred field.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे भगवच्छास्त्रे गोनिष्क्रमण माहात्म्यं नाम सप्तचत्वारिंशदधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred and forty-seventh chapter, entitled 'The Greatness of Goniṣkramaṇa,' in the divine scripture of the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa.
अथ स्तुतस्वामिमाहात्म्यम् गोनिष्क्रमणमाहात्म्यं श्रुत्वा गुह्यमनुत्तमम्
Now, having heard the greatness of Goniṣkramaṇa, the most secret and unsurpassed, and the glory of the Lord having been praised—
धरण्युवाच यच्छ्रुत्वाऽहं जगन्नाथ जातास्मि परिनिर्वृता
The Earth said: O Lord of the Universe, having heard this, I have become completely fulfilled.
एवमेव परं गुह्यं ब्रूहि नारायण प्रभो
Just so, O Nārāyaṇa, Lord, tell me further the supreme secret.
श्रीवराह उवाच मात्सर्यं चैव मे नास्ति तेनाहं परमः प्रभुः
Śrī Varāha said: I have no envy at all; therefore, I am the supreme Lord.
एतच्छास्त्रं महाभागे प्रयुक्तं लीलया मया
This scripture, O highly fortunate one, has been set forth by me as a divine play.
धरण्युवाच तथा तथा देव वराऽप्रमेयं हृद्यं मनो भावयसे जनार्दन
Dharaṇī said: Just so, just so, O immeasurable Lord Varāha; you delight the heart and mind, O Janārdana.
ततो महीवचः श्रुत्वा धर्मश्रेष्ठी महामनाः
Then, having heard the words of the Earth, the great-minded one, foremost in righteousness—
श्रीवराह उवाच कथयिष्याम्यहं ह्येवं गुह्यं लोकसुखावहम्
Śrī Varāha said: I shall now declare this secret, which brings happiness to the world.
स्तुतस्वामीति विख्यातं गुह्यं क्षेत्रं परं मम
It is renowned as 'Stutasvāmi,' my supreme and secret field.
पुत्रोऽहं वसुदेवस्य देवक्या गर्भसम्भवः 148.
I am the son of Vasudeva, born from the womb of Devakī.
पञ्च तस्य सुशिष्याश्च भविष्यन्ति विचक्षणाः
He will have five excellent disciples, wise and discerning.
ते मां संस्थापयिष्पन्ति धर्ममूर्त्तिं महीं गतम्
They will establish me, the embodiment of Dharma, when I have gone to the earth.
भृगुश्चैव महाभागे मम मागार्नुसारिणः
And Bhṛgu, O highly fortunate one, will follow my path.
स्वयं ज्ञानप्रभावेण भासयिष्यन्ति मां सदा
By the power of their own knowledge, they will always make me shine forth.
गच्छता बहुकालेन मम कर्मपरायणः
As time passes, devoted to my actions—
वरं तेषां प्रदास्यामि यो यस्य हृदि संस्थितः
I will grant them a boon: each according to what abides in his heart.
आत्मशास्त्रं प्रतिष्ठेत यत्र धर्मः सुनिष्ठितः
Where Dharma is firmly established, there the scripture of the Self will be upheld.
तव देव प्रसादेन इहलोकः प्रवर्तताम्
By your grace, O Lord, may this world proceed rightly.
भविष्यति न संदेहो यतो यूयं मम प्रियाः
There will be no doubt, for you all are dear to me.
तदेते प्रवदिष्यन्ति सर्वभागवतप्रियम् 148.
Therefore, these will proclaim all that is dear to the devotees of Bhagavān.
एवं सर्वेषु शास्त्रेषु वाराहं घृतसम्मितम्
Thus, in all the scriptures, the Varāha teaching is esteemed as clarified butter.
एवं समं मया चैव ह्यात्मना परिभाषितम्
In this way, I have spoken equally with myself, indeed, through my own Self.
महाज्ञानमिदं सूक्ष्मं भूमे भक्तेषु दृश्यते
This supreme and subtle knowledge is seen among the devoted ones of the Earth.
