Varaha Purana

दशानामश्वमेधानां प्राप्नोत्यविकलं फलम्

He obtains the complete fruit of ten Aśvamedha sacrifices.

अश्वमेधफलं भुक्त्वा भूमे मत्समतां व्रजेत्

Having enjoyed the fruit of the horse sacrifice, one attains equality with me upon earth.

संभेदो देवनद्योस्तु समस्तसुखवल्लभः

The confluence of the divine rivers is beloved of all happiness.

गन्धर्वाप्सरसश्चैव नागकन्याः सहोरगैः

Gandharvas, Apsarases, and the serpent maidens together with the Nagas,

सिद्धाश्च किन्नराश्चैव स्वर्गादवतरन्ति हि

Siddhas and Kinnaras also descend from heaven.

तेभ्यस्तेभ्यश्च स्थानेभ्यस्तीर्थेभ्यश्च विशेषतः

From those places and especially from those sacred fords,

श्वतेगंगेति या प्रोक्ता तया संभूय सादरम्

That which is called Śvategaṅgā, having united with it respectfully,

गण्डक्या कृष्णया चैव या कृष्णस्य तनूद्भवा

With Gaṇḍakī and Kṛṣṇā, and that which is born from the body of Kṛṣṇa,

त्रिशूलगंगेत्याख्याता सापि तत्र महानदी १४५.

That great river is also known there as Triśūlagaṅgā.

मम क्षेत्रे समाख्यातं पुण्यं परमपावनम्

In my domain, it is proclaimed as holy and supremely purifying.

यच्च सिद्धाश्रम इति विख्यातः पुण्यवर्द्धनः

And that which is renowned as Siddhāśrama, enhancer of merit,

नानापुष्पफलोपेतं कदलीषण्डमण्डितम्

Adorned with clusters of banana trees, bearing various flowers and fruits,

खर्ज्जूराशोकबकुलैश्चूतैश्चैव प्रियालकैः

With date palms, asoka, bakula, mango, and beloved priyaala trees,

नारंगैर्बदरीभिश्च जंबीरैर्मातुलुंगकैः

With oranges, jujubes, lemons, and citrons,

कुन्दैः कुरवकैर्नागैः कुटजैर्दाडिमैरपि

With jasmine, kuravaka, nāga, kuṭaja, and also pomegranate trees,

तस्मिन्ह्रदे महापुण्ये पुण्यनद्योस्तु संगमे

In that lake, supremely holy, at the confluence of sacred rivers,

स्नात्वा तत्र तु वैशाखे गोसहस्रफलं भवेत्

Bathing there in the month of Vaiśākha yields the fruit of a thousand cows.

कार्त्तिके मासि यः स्नाति तुलासंस्थे दिवाकरे

Whoever bathes in the month of Kārttika, when the sun is in Libra,

यस्त्रिरात्रमुषित्वा तु नियते नियता शनः १४५.

Having stayed for three nights with discipline, in a regulated manner.

यज्ञस्तपोऽथवा दानं श्राद्धमिष्टस्य पूजनम्

Sacrifice, austerity, or charity, the offering to ancestors, and the worship of the desired deity—

भूमे तस्यापराधांश्च सर्वानेव क्षमाम्यहम्

All the offenses committed against the earth, I forgive entirely.

तथैवायं देवनद्यो संगमः समुदाहृतः

Likewise, this confluence of divine rivers is declared here.

अहमस्मिन्महाक्षेत्रे धरे पूर्वमुखः स्थितः

In this great sacred region, I stand facing east upon the earth.

अन्यच्च ते प्रवक्ष्यामि तच्छृणुष्व वसुन्धरे

Moreover, I shall tell you something else; listen to it, O Earth.

शिवो मे दक्षिणस्थाने तिष्ठन्वै विगतज्वरः

Shiva stands at my southern side, free from all affliction.

तं ये विन्दन्ति ते देवि नूनं मामेव विन्दति

O goddess, those who find him surely find me as well.

शिवं यो वन्दते भूमे स हि मामेव वन्दते

O Earth, whoever worships Shiva indeed worships me.

एवमेतन्महाभागे क्षेत्रं हरिहरात्मकम् १४५.

Thus, O noble one, this region is the embodiment of Hari and Hara.

मुक्तिक्षेत्रं प्रथमतो रुरुखण्डं ततः परम्

First is the field of liberation, then the region called Ruru.
