Because of this, in that place, there came to be many others as well, O dear one.
You should have no doubt concerning the Triveṇī, O beautiful one.
And when King Bharata was near the hermitage of Pulastya,
From that time onward, he had clear aversion toward it because of Bharata.
Because he was worshipped in this way, he is remembered as Jaleśvara, the Lord of Water.
When I, O fortunate one, was present in Śālagrāma or another sacred field,
Wherever the first fell, there a sacred site came to be.
One who bathes there, radiant, is honored in the realm of the Sun.
For the protection of devotees, Sudarśana was commanded by me.
Thus, all of that was scattered by confusion and became entirely covered.
Placing the herds of cows in front, he went to the field of Hari.
When Nandī, holding the trident, was preceded by the herd of cows,
Because the gods wandered there, it became known as Devāṭa.
That Lord of the gods, holding the trident, grants fearlessness to devotees.
In that place, Mahādeva is indeed of the Sālaṅkāyana lineage.
And he himself, the great yogi, bestows the attainment of yoga.
From the Trijaṭās, three streams arose, truly most wondrous.
This three-streamed sacred site emerged from the Trijaṭās.
In the field called Śālagrāma, one devoted to worshipping Hari,
Who, having bathed at the three-streamed site, satisfies the ancestors and gods,
On its eastern side, it is remembered as Haṃsa-tīrtha.
At times, on the night sacred to Śiva, during the great festival of worship by devotees,
There, crows, hungry for food, flew up towards that offering.
Both of them, while fighting, fell into that pit.
There, they became two swans, radiant as the moon, and emerged from it.
From that time, O noble one, it has been called 'Hamsa-tirtha'—the holy place of the swans.
Formerly, it was made by a Yaksha and was known as 'Yaksha-tirtha.'
There, then, a devotee wholly dedicated to Shiva gave up his life.
Such is the power of that sacred place, due to the greatness of the great yogi.
All this, O Earth, I have told you—the secret holy field.
