My field called Kokāmukha is five yojanas wide.
And I will tell you something else; listen to this, O Earth.
It shines like stone and sandalwood, and is difficult even for the gods to attain.
Making the left side of the face high, and the left tusk elevated,
Those men, O Earth, who remember me are freed from sin.
If at any time one goes to Kokāmukha during the course of life,
This place is the supreme secret among secrets, the highest and greatest.
Not by Sāṃkhya nor by Yoga do they attain the highest perfection.
Thus, O highly fortunate one, I have told you the best, which you have asked.
Whoever, O Earth, recounts this supreme Kokāmukha,
Whether he dies there or is born, he is born in a pure, devoted family.
And if a man listens to this daily, rising early,
Whoever recites daily this account of Koka, O Uṣas, ...
Thus, in the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa, in the divine scripture, is the one hundred fortieth chapter entitled 'The Description of the Greatness of Kokāmukha.'
Now, the glory of Badarikāśrama: On the slopes of the Himalaya, listen to this most secret teaching.
No man attains that place, even by performing extremely difficult deeds.
That field of mine, on the icy mountain's rocky surface, is exceedingly rare.
There, on the height of the rocks, is the renowned Brahmakuṇḍa.
If a man, having fasted for three nights, bathes there—
If, steadfast in vows and self-controlled, one gives up the breath there—
In that field of mine is the supreme place called Agnisatya.
If a man, having fasted for three nights, bathes there—
And in Badarī, my hermitage is known as Indraloka.
And there, from the peaks, a great stream again descends.
If a man, having fasted for one night, bathes there—
There is a holy place of Badarī's hermitage called Pañcaśikha.
If a man bathes there at the five streams—
If, having performed extremely difficult deeds, one gives up the breath there—
In that field of mine is the place known as Catuḥsrota.
If a man, having fasted for one night, bathes there—
