सर्वः श्रिया युतस्तत्र रोगव्याधिविवर्जितः
There, all are endowed with prosperity, free from disease and illness.
मोदन्ते तु यथान्यायं प्रसादात्क्षेत्रजान्मम
They rejoice there, as is proper, by the grace born of my field.
पुनरन्यत्प्रवक्ष्यामि यद्वृत्तं सौकरे मम
Again, I shall tell another story of what happened in my boar incarnation.
तिर्यग्योनिविनिर्मुक्ताः श्वेतद्वीपमुपागताः 138.
Freed from birth among animals, they reached the White Island.
स कुलं तारयेत्तूर्णं दश पूर्वान्दशावरान्
He quickly delivers his lineage—ten ancestors before and ten after.
न पठेत्पिशुनानां च एकाकी तु पठेद्गृहे
One should not recite among slanderers, but may recite alone at home.
वैष्णवानां च पुरतो यै व शास्त्रगुणान्विताः
And before the Vaiṣṇavas, those who are endowed with the virtues of the scriptures—
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे खञ्जरीटोपाख्यानं नामाष्टत्रिंशदधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred thirty-eighth chapter, named 'The Story of Khañjarīṭa,' in the glorious Varāha Purāṇa.
अथ सौकरमाहात्म्यम् शृणु तत्त्वेन मे देवि लिप्यमानस्य यत्फलम्
Now, the greatness of the boar—listen from me, O goddess, to the true result of what is being written.
गृहीत्वा गोमयं भूमे मम वेश्मोपलेपयेत्
Taking cow dung, one should plaster the ground of my abode.
तावद्वर्षसहस्राणि दिव्यानि दिवि मोदते
For as many thousands of divine years, one delights in heaven.
जायते विपुले शुद्धे धनधान्यसमाकुले
One is born in a vast and pure family, abundant in wealth and grain.
कुशद्वीपमनुप्राप्य सहस्राणि च जीवति
Having attained the Kuśa Island, one lives for thousands of years.
कुशद्वीपात्परिभ्रष्टो मम कर्मपरायणः
Falling from Kuśa Island, devoted to my deeds—
तेन तस्य प्रभावेण मम कर्मपरायणः
By the power of that, devoted to my deeds—
देवि कारयते सर्वं मम चायतनानि च
O goddess, he causes all my shrines and abodes to be established.
गोमयस्य तु वक्ष्यामि तच्छृणुष्व वसुन्धरे
Now I shall speak about cow dung; listen to that, O Vasundharā.
समीपे यदि वा दूरे गत्वा नयति गोमयम् 139.
Whether nearby or far away, whoever brings cow dung—
गोमयानां च नेता वै स्वर्गलोके महीयते
The leader of those who bring cow dung is honored in the heavenly world.
एकादशसहस्राणि एकादशशतानि च
For eleven thousand and eleven hundred years—
मद्भक्तश्चैव जायेत सर्वधर्मविदां वरः
He is born as my devotee, the best among knowers of all dharmas.
वहते गोमयं सुष्ठु मम लोकं स गच्छति
Whoever properly carries cow dung attains my world.
तस्य पुण्यं महाभागे शृणु तत्वेन निष्कलम्
O highly fortunate one, listen truly and without omission to his merit.
तावद्वर्षसहस्राणि स्वर्गलोके महीयते
For as many thousands of years, he is honored in the heavenly world.
क्रौंचद्वीपात्परिभ्रष्टो राजा भवति धार्मिकः
A king who has fallen from Krauñca-dvīpa becomes righteous.
संमार्ज्जनं प्रवक्ष्यामि तच्छृणुष्व वसुन्धरे
I shall explain the act of cleansing; listen to it, O Earth.
शुचिर्भागवतः शुद्धो अपराधविवर्जितः
He is pure, devoted to the Lord, spotless, and free from transgression.
तावद्वर्षशतान्याशु स्वर्गलोके महीयते 139.
For as many hundreds of years, he is honored in heaven.
तत्र स्थित्वा चिरङ्कालं राजा भवति धार्मिकः
Having remained there for a long time, the king becomes righteous.
श्वेतद्वीपं ततो गच्छेन्मत्कर्मनिरतः शुचिः
Then, pure and devoted to my deeds, he goes to Śvetadvīpa.
