He becomes prosperous in wealth and grain, handsome, virtuous, and pure.
Thus, being born as a human, and free from transgressions—
Those who die in that field of Saukara, by its power—
Having quickly abandoned the body, they go to the White Island.
The supreme state attained by one who bathes at those holy places—
Hear, O blessed one, the merit there; a man attains the highest.
One who, upon the twelfth day of Vaiśākha, bathes according to the prescribed rule—
He is born in a great family, abundant in wealth and grain.
He avoids wrongdoing and is initiated indeed.
Crossing over, the four-armed One, bearing discus, mace, conch, and lotus, appeared.
O wide-eyed one, at the holy place of the discus, one who dies there has fulfilled his purpose.
Placing his joined hands upon his head, he spoke these gentle words.
Tell me this truly; for I have great curiosity about it.
He spoke words, resounding like the drum of a ram, to the Earth.
The reason for this, by which I have been worshipped, is indeed by him.
And I have revealed my very self, which is hard to attain even for the gods.
He is unable to see me, bewildered by my radiance.
Likewise, he cannot speak, his eyes trembling in fear.
Taking up subtle speech, that Soma, prompted by me—
Speak to me truly, Soma, whatever is in your mind.
Then, having heard my words, the lord of the foremost of planets—
O Lord, if you are pleased and have come here for me—
As long as the worlds endure, so long, O Janardana, may I abide in you.
And whatever my form, O Lord, you have established—
Let my Brāhmaṇas drink Soma only in sacrifices.
When you wane there at the new moon, then the rites for ancestors with balls of food are performed there.
O Viṣṇu, may my mind never incline toward unrighteousness at any time; and if it does, then let us fall to the state of plants—so be it.
If you, O Great Lord, who are beyond beginning, middle, and end, are pleased,
Then, having heard Soma’s words, I became invisible right there.
And the supreme attainment was gained at the Soma-tīrtha, which is otherwise hard to obtain.
