The sages praise me, O Madhavi, with mantras from the Vedas.
The dwellers of the heavenly worlds also praise the ancient, supreme person.
They praise the god of beings, the lord of all worlds.
They praise the lord of gods, the imperishable one at the end of the ages.
They praise Keshava, the lord who is the essence of the beginning of time; they praise the master of beings, the great lord of all worlds.
Narada, Parvata, Asita, and Devala as well—
And many others, such as Mitrāvasu and Parāvasu—
Having heard the resounding echo of the gods of great might—
'What is this sound that is heard, accompanied by the chant of Brahman?'
Then, O lotus-eyed one, endowed with all forms and qualities—
The gods desire, O Lord, your form as Varahi.
Then the god Narayana spoke to the Earth.
O Earth, you have been upheld for a divine thousand years.
I am coming here—may good befall you—for the heavenly beings wish to see you.
Hearing these words of Mādhava, the Earth listened.
That Earth then addressed the divine Boar-formed Person.
I have sought refuge in you; I am devoted to you; you are my path and Lord.
O God, by what means are you pleased, and by what act are you worshipped?
I have no distress at all in your constant actions.
All the worlds of gods and demons, along with Indra and the Grandfather, exist.
What deeds do those perform, O Mādhava, who behold you?
What is the duty of a brāhmaṇa, and what should a kṣatriya do?
By what is yoga attained, or by what determined austerity?
And what is considered painful dwelling, as well as food and drink?
What kind of acquisition is there, and in which directions, O Lord?
By what action, O Keśava, does one not go to an animal birth?
By what does one attain old age, and by what is birth obtained?
By the power of what action does one not enter the cycle of existence?
Let those devoted to the Lord, and those intent on liberation, listen to me.
Mantra— Among all the months, Mādhava is foremost; indeed, the month of Mādhava. And in all sacrifices, he is always worshipped—Nārāyaṇa, the hero in the seven worlds.
