तत्क्षेत्रस्य प्रभावेण श्वेतद्वीपमुपागताः
By the power of that sacred place, they reached Śvetadvīpa.
मुक्त्वा तु मानुषं भावं श्वेतद्वीपमुपागतः
Having abandoned their human state, they arrived at Śvetadvīpa.
( शुक्लाम्बरधरा दिव्यभूषणैश्च विभूषिताः
Clad in white garments and adorned with divine ornaments,
स्त्रियोऽपि दिव्या यत्रत्या दिव्यभूषणभूषिताः
Even the women there are divine, adorned with celestial jewels.
मयि शुद्धं परं भावमारूढाः सत्यवर्च्चसः
They have attained pure and supreme devotion to me, possessing truthfulness.
यत्र मत्स्यश्च चिल्ली च सकामा ये समागताः
There, Matsya and Cillī, and those who have come with desire, are present.
ते च विष्णुमयान्धर्मान्द्विजस्तांस्तान्त्समाचरेत्
The twice-born should practice those very righteous acts imbued with Vishnu.
तेऽपि कुर्वन्ति कर्माणि मम भक्ता व्यवस्थिताः 122.
Those devoted to me also perform actions, established in my devotion.
कुर्वन्तो मम कर्माणि भाव्यं पंचत्वमागताः
Performing my actions, they attain dissolution into the five elements.
मानुषं भावमुत्सृज्य मम लोकमुपागतः
Having abandoned their human state, they have reached my world.
) याश्च तत्र स्त्रियः काश्चित्सर्वाश्चोत्पलगन्धिनीः
And all the women there, some among them, all fragrant with the scent of lotuses,
प्रसादान्मम सुश्रोणि श्वेतद्वीपमुपागताः
By my grace, O beautiful-hipped one, they have reached Śvetadvīpa.
कर्मणां परमं कर्म तपसां च महत्तपः
The highest act among actions, the greatest austerity among austerities,
धर्माणां च परो धर्मस्तवार्थं कीर्तितो मया
And the supreme righteousness among righteousnesses has been proclaimed by me for your sake.
अभक्ताय न तं दद्यादश्रद्धाय शठाय च
It should not be given to one who is without devotion, faithless, or deceitful.
पण्डिताय च दातव्यं यश्च शास्त्रविशारदः 122.
It should be given to one who is learned and skilled in the scriptures.
सोऽपि मुच्येत पूतात्मा गर्भाद्योनिभवाद्भयात्
Such a person, purified in soul, is freed from the fear of birth in the womb.
य एतेन विधानेन गत्वा कोकामुखं महत्
Whoever, by this method, goes to the great Kokāmukha,
अथ सुमनोगन्धादिमाहात्म्यम् श्रुत्वा तु कोकामाहात्म्यं पृथिवी धर्मसंहितम्
Then, having heard the glory of Sumanogandha and Kokāma, the earth, filled with righteousness,
धरण्युवाच तिर्यग्योनिगतो वापि प्राप्तो यत्परमां गतिम्
Dharaṇī said: Even one born in an animal womb, if he attains the supreme state,
तव देव प्रसादेन किंचिदिच्छामि वेदितुम्
By your grace, O Lord, I wish to know something.
तपसा कर्मणा वापि पश्यन्ति त्वां हि माधव
Through austerity or action, they behold you, O Mādhava.
एवं पृष्टस्तदा देव्या माधव्या स तु माधवः
Thus questioned by the goddess Mādhavī, Mādhava then,
श्रीवराह उवाच कथयिष्यामि ते धर्मं गुह्यं संसारमोक्षणम्
Śrī Varāha said: I shall tell you the secret dharma, the liberation from worldly existence.
गते मेघागमे काले प्रसन्नशरदाशये
When the season of clouds has passed and the clear autumn has arrived,
नातिशीतं न चात्युष्णे काले हंसविराविणि
In a time neither too cold nor too hot, when the swans are calling,
कुमुदस्य च मासस्य भवेद्या द्वादशी शुभा
On the auspicious twelfth day of the month of Kumuda,
यावल्लोकाश्च धार्यन्ते तावत्कालं वसुन्धरे 123.
As long as the worlds are sustained, O Earth, so long is that time.
कृत्वा ममैव कार्याणि द्वादश्यां तत्र माधवि
Having performed my prescribed duties on the twelfth day there, in the spring season,
मन्त्रः – ब्रह्मणा च रुद्रेण यः स्तूयमाना भवानृषिवन्दितो वन्दनीयश्च प्राप्ता द्वादशीयं ते प्रबुध्यस्व जागृष्व मेघा गताः पूर्णश्चन्द्रः शारदानि पुष्पाणि लोकनाथ तुभ्यमहं ददानीति धर्महेतोस्तव प्रीतये प्रबुद्धं जाग्रतं लोकनाथ त्वां भजमाना यज्ञेन यजन्ते सत्रेण सत्रिणो वेदैः पठन्ति भगवन्तः शुद्धाः प्रबुद्धा जाग्रतो लोकनाथ
Mantra— O Lord, praised by Brahmā and Rudra, honored by sages and worthy of veneration, you have attained the twelfth day. Awaken, arise; the clouds have departed, the full moon has risen, the autumn flowers have blossomed. O Lord of the worlds, I offer these to you. For the sake of righteousness and to please you, I awaken and rise. O Lord of the worlds, those who worship you with sacrifice, with rituals, and with the Vedas—pure, awakened, and vigilant—worship you, O Lord of the worlds.
