Śyāmāka is also mentioned as suitable for the rite, O Vasundharā.
These I accept, and also what is dear to the devotee.
These should be offered in the rite for me, for they bring me delight.
My share is there also, of animals and of goats.
But one should avoid meat there; the Vaiṣṇava eats with the Yajus.
Now I shall declare, O Vasundharā, the birds that are to be used.
The lāvaka, the vārttika, and also the praised kapiñjala,
Those that are suitable for my rite have been enumerated by me.
That man does not transgress my spoken command, dear one.
Therefore, one who desires the highest accomplishment should indeed perform the sacrifice in this way.
Those who perform actions prescribed by me attain supreme perfection.
Now, listen to the supreme secret of the invocation at the three junctions of the day, which you previously asked about, O Earth.
Having bathed properly, those devoted to my rites—
And whoever, O blessed one, recites thus my eternal form—
Below, above, and across, I alone am established.
In every way, they are always to be worshipped by my devotee.
Moreover, I shall tell you another secret, renowned in the world.
Having performed the supreme act with proper understanding—
Uttering 'Om namo Nārāyaṇa,' one should recite this mantra:
We worship Nārāyaṇa, the source of those devoted to righteousness, the chief of all worlds.
Then, turning to face west, again taking a handful of water, and reciting the twelve-syllable mantra, one should utter this mantra:
The mantras said: I praise the one thus established, the primeval, with endless forms, whose intentions never fail, the infinite.
Then, at that same time, again taking a handful of water, uttering 'Namo Nārāyaṇa,' one should recite this mantra:
Then, at that same time, turning to face south—
We worship the wondrous sacrifice, the true and the right, the primal form, the origin of time and others.
Then, having become intent on the wooden ritual act, and having restrained the senses—
We worship you, the drinker of Soma, whose eyes are the moon and the sun, whose eyes are like a hundred-petaled lotus.
At the three junctions of the day, one should perform this rite for me, according to this very rule.
This is the highest secret among all secrets, the supreme treasure among all yogas.
This should not be given to a fool, a slanderer, or a deceitful person.
