कर्मण्यान्यपि माल्यानि ततो मह्यं प्रदापयेत् 118.
Then, other garlands should be offered to me as part of the ritual.
ततः पुष्पाञ्जलिं दत्त्वा इमं मन्त्रमुदीरयेत्
Then, after offering a handful of flowers, recite this mantra.
मम संसारमोक्षाय गृह्ण गृह्ण ममाच्युत
For my liberation from worldly existence, accept, accept this from me, O Achyuta.
पश्चाद्धूपं च मे दद्यात्सुगन्धद्रव्यसम्मितम्
Afterwards, one should offer me incense, composed of fragrant substances.
उभयेषु कुलेष्वात्मा धूपमंत्रमुदीरयेत्
In both families, one should recite the incense-mantra with focused mind.
मम संसारमोक्षाय धूपोऽयं प्रतिगृह्यताम्
For my liberation from worldly existence, may this incense be accepted.
सांख्यानां शान्तियोगेन धूपं गृह्ण नमोऽस्तु ते
With the peace attained by the Sankhyas, accept this incense; salutations to you.
एवमभ्यर्च्चनं कृत्वा माल्यगन्धानुलेपनैः
Having thus worshipped with garlands, fragrances, and ointments,
एवं चैव समादाय कृत्वा शिरसि चाञ्जलिम्
And in this way, having taken (the offering), and placing joined hands upon the head,
प्रीयतां भगवान्पुरुषोत्तमः श्रीनिवासः श्रीमानानन्दरूपः क्षौमं वस्त्रं पीतरूपं मनोज्ञं देवांगे स्वे गात्रप्रच्छादनाय
May the Blessed Lord, the Supreme Person, Srinivasa, glorious and of the form of bliss, be pleased; a fine yellow silk garment, charming, for covering the divine body, is offered.
वस्त्रैर्विभूषणं कृत्वा मम गात्रानुसारि यत् 118.
Having adorned with garments that fit my body,
गृहीत्वा प्रणवाद्येन धर्मपुण्येन संवृतः
Having taken it, with the sound of Om and enveloped in righteousness and merit,
इदं परायणं परस्परप्रीतिकरं प्राणरक्षणं प्राणिनां स्विष्टं तदनुकल्पं सत्यमुपयुक्तमात्मने तद्देव गृहाण
This is the supreme offering, bringing mutual delight, preserving life for beings, proper, suitable, true, and beneficial for oneself; O Deva, accept this.
एवं तु प्रापणं कृत्वा मम मार्गानुसारकः
Having thus made the offering, following my path,
शुचिः स्तुवति देवानामेतदेव परायणम्
The pure one praises the gods; this alone is the supreme offering.
एवं तु भोजनं दत्त्वा व्यपनीय तु प्रापणम्
Having thus given food, and having removed the offering,
मन्त्रः - अलङ्कारं सर्वतो देवानां द्रव्यानुक्तौ सर्वसौगन्धिकादिभिः गृह्य ताम्बूलं लोकनाथ विशिष्टमस्माकं च भवनं तव प्रतिमा च ह
Mantra: Ornamentation in every way for the gods, with all fragrant substances and the like; having taken betel, O Lord of the world, may our house and your image be especially adorned.
अलङ्कारं मुखे श्रेष्ठं तव प्रीत्या मया कृतम्
The best ornament for the mouth has been made by me for your pleasure.
एतेनैवोपचारेण मद्भक्तः कर्म कारयेत्
By this very service, my devotee should perform the ritual.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे भगवच्छास्त्रे देवोपचारविधिर्नामाष्टादशाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the Shri Varaha Purana, in the scripture of the Blessed Lord, is the one hundred eighteenth chapter named 'The Procedure for Divine Offerings.'
अथ भोज्यनियमविधिः एवं कर्मविधिं श्रुत्वा सर्व संसारमोक्षणम्
Now, the rule regarding what is to be eaten and what is forbidden: Having heard thus the procedure of action, which leads to liberation from all worldly existence,
एवं महौजसं कर्म तव मार्गानुसारतः
Thus, this most powerful act is to be performed according to your path,
केन द्रव्येण संयुक्तं तन्ममाचक्ष्व माधव
With what substance should it be accompanied? Tell me this, O Mādhava.
उवाच धर्मसंयुक्तं धर्मज्ञो वाक्यकोविदः येन मन्त्रेण संयुक्तो मम प्रापणकं नयेत्
He who knows righteousness, skilled in speech, spoke of what is joined with righteousness: 'With which mantra it is joined, let it be brought to me.'
सप्त व्रीहींस्ततो गृह्य पयसा सह संयुतम्
Then, taking seven grains of rice, together with milk,
एते चान्ये च बहवः शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः
These and many others, by the hundreds and thousands,
व्रीहीणां च प्रवक्ष्यामि उपयोग्यानि माधवि
I shall declare, O Mādhavi, the types of rice suitable for use.
धर्मचिल्लिकशाकं च सुगन्धं रक्तमालिकौ
Dharmacillika, leafy greens, fragrant red jasmine,
आमोदा शिवसुन्दर्यौ शिरीकाकुलशालिकाः
Āmodā, Śivasundarī, Śirī, Kākula, and Śālikā varieties,
कर्मण्या मुद्गमाषा वै तिलकङ्गुकुलित्थकाः 119.
Also, mudga beans, māṣa beans, sesame, kaṅgu, kuluttha, and others are suitable for the rite.
