प्रातरुत्थाय यो मर्त्यः कल्पं चेदं समाहितः
Whoever, rising in the morning, recites this section with concentration—
श्राद्धकाले पठेद्यस्तु इदं पावनमुत्तमम्
Whoever recites this most purifying text at the time of śrāddha—
अमायां वाथ यः कश्चिद्द्विजानामग्रतः पठेत् 112.
Or whoever, without deceit, recites this before the twice-born,
यश्चैतच्छृणुयान्नित्यं तद्गतेनान्तरात्मना
And whoever listens to this daily, with a mind absorbed in it,
होतोवाच धरण्यै कथितं राजन्धेनुमाहात्म्यमुत्तमम्
Hota said: O King, to the Earth I have declared the supreme greatness of the cow.
मया ते कथितं सर्वं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्
I have told you everything, which destroys all sins.
सर्वकामसमृद्धार्थो वैष्णवं पदमाप्नुयात्
One who is fulfilled in all desires attains the Vaishnava abode.
प्रत्यक्षधेनुर्दातव्या सहिरण्या नृपोत्तम
A visible cow should be given, along with gold, O best of kings.
सर्वपापप्रशमनं भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायकम्
It removes all sins and bestows enjoyment and liberation.
धेनूनां फलमुद्दिश्य सर्वकामप्रदं नृणाम्
With the aim of attaining the fruit of cows, which grants all desires to people,
इदानीं कार्त्तिकी चेयं वर्त्तते च नराधिप
Now, O lord of men, this Kārtikī is present.
देवदानवयक्षैस्तु युक्तमेतत्सदा विभो
This is always appropriate, O mighty one, for gods, demons, and yakṣas.
सरत्नं पुरुषः कृत्वा कार्त्तिक्यां द्वादशी दिने 112.
A man, having gathered all jewels, on the twelfth day of Kārtikī,
पुरोहिताय गुरवे दद्याद्भक्तिसमन्वितः
Should give them to the family priest or teacher, filled with devotion.
तानि दत्तानि तेन स्युः समासात्कथितं तव
Those gifts given by him become, as I have briefly told you,
सैकदेशो यजेत्तस्य ब्रह्माण्डस्य विशेषतः
He should especially sacrifice a portion of that brahmanda.
तेन चेष्टं हुतं दत्तं पठितं कीर्त्तितं भवेत्
By that, whatever is performed, offered, given, recited, or praised, becomes so.
ब्रह्माण्डमृषये प्रादात्सविधानं च तत्क्षणात्
He gave the brahmanda to the sage, with all the proper rites, at that very moment.
तस्मात्त्वमपि राजेन्द्र तद्दत्त्वा तु सुखी भव
Therefore, O king of kings, you too, having given that, be happy.
जगाम परमां सिद्धिं यत्र गत्वा न शोचति इयं ते कथिता देवि संहिता सर्वकामिका
He attained the highest perfection, where, having gone, one does not grieve. This, O goddess, is the compendium of all desires, told to you.
वराहाख्या वरारोहे सर्वपातकनाशिनी
The Varaha scripture, renowned as Vararohi, destroys all sins.
ब्रह्मा स्वसूनवे प्रादात्पुलस्त्याय महात्मने
Brahma gave it to his own son, Pulastya, the great-souled.
असावपि स्वशिष्याय प्रादादुग्राय धारिणि 112.
He too gave it to his disciple, Ugra, the steadfast.
सम्बन्धः पूर्वकल्पीयो द्वितीयं शृणु साम्प्रतम्
The connection is from a previous cycle; now hear the second.
त्वत्तश्च तपसा सिद्धा वेत्स्यन्ते कपिलादयः
Through your asceticism, Kapila and others will attain perfection and knowledge.
तस्यापि शिष्यो भविता नाम्ना वै रोमहर्षणिः
His disciple will be Romaharshana by name.
अष्टादश पुराणानि वेद द्वैपायनो गुरुः
The teacher Dvaipayana divided the eighteen Purāṇas and the Veda.
तथान्यं नारदीयं च मार्कण्डेयं च सप्तमम्
Likewise, the Nārada Purāṇa and the seventh, the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa.
दशमं ब्रह्मवैवर्त्त लैङ्गमेकादशं स्मृतम्
The tenth is Brahmavaivarta; the eleventh is known as the Linga Purāṇa.
चतुर्दशं वामनकं कौर्मं पंचदशं स्मृतम्
The fourteenth is the Vāmana Purāṇa; the fifteenth is known as the Kurma Purāṇa.
