One who desires heaven should always give a cow yielding sweet juice.
Both the giver and the receiver must fast for one meal on that day.
Those who witness the giving also attain the highest state.
Then, with the previously mentioned mantras, the wise should offer prayers for her.
He should dedicate ten ancestors, ten descendants, and himself as the twenty-first.
O King, thus I have described to you the unsurpassed cow yielding sweet juice.
Whoever recites or listens to this daily with devotion—
Thus ends the one hundred and first chapter, entitled 'The Greatness of Giving the Cow Yielding Sweet Juice,' in the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa, in the narrative of Śveta and Vinītāśva.
The greatness of the sugar-cow. Hota spoke: I shall describe the sugar-cow, which fulfills all desires. On unsmeared earth, covered with black antelope skin and kuśa grass—
Upon that, place a cloth and bring abundant sugar. Fashion a cow out of sugar, complete with all its limbs and features.
Her face and horns should be of gold, her teeth of gems and pearls; her neck adorned with jewels, and her nose with fragrant substances.
Her horns should be of agaru wood, her back of copper; her tail of linen, and she should be adorned with all ornaments.
Her feet should be of sugarcane, her hooves of silver; cover her with a woolen blanket and silk cords, and adorn her with bells and yak-tail fans.
Let her ears be of excellent leaves, her udders of fresh butter; the wise should further embellish her with various kinds of fruits.
The best sugar-cow should always have four streams; with half a portion by weight, make the calf with a quarter portion.
The middle kind is made with half that weight, and the lowest with a single portion; one without wealth should make it according to his ability, or with eight hundred pieces.
After this, according to one's household wealth, one should worship with fragrances, flowers, and the like, and offer to a Brahmin. It should be given to a learned Brahmin, along with a thousand gold coins, or with half that amount, O King, or again with half of that.
Or with a hundred, or with half a hundred, one should offer as able, having worshipped with fragrances, flowers, and the like, along with rings, earrings, and leaf-ornaments.
Having given a parasol and sandals, one should recite this mantra: 'O cow of molasses, of great potency, bestower of all prosperity, auspicious one.'
'By this gift, O blessed Earth, grant me food and sustenance.' The giver, even if facing east, should offer to a Brahmin.
Whatever has been done by speech, by action, or conceived in the mind—whether in weighing with weights, in measuring with scales, or declared for the sake of a maiden—
Falsehood does not bring ruin when the cow of molasses is given to a twice-born. Those who give it are seen and attain the highest state—where rivers flow with clarified butter and milk, and where seers, sages, and perfected beings go, there go the givers of cows.
By the grace of the cow of molasses, one quickly leads ten ancestors before, ten descendants after, and oneself—the twenty-first—to the world of Vishnu.
At the solstices, equinoxes, eclipses, and at the end of the day, O wise one, it should always be given, having seen a worthy recipient.
It should be given with faith, as it grants both enjoyment and liberation; it always bestows all desires and is said to remove all sins.
By the grace of the cow of molasses, all good fortune arises; one attains the Vaishnava abode, and the end of misfortune is destroyed.
For ten, twelve thousand, ten, and eight births, there is never sorrow, suffering, or misfortune for that person.
Whoever recites or hears this here properly, and applies their mind to it, lives long with prosperity here, and after, dwells long in heaven, honored by the gods and others.
Chapter one hundred and three. Hotā said: Likewise, hear, O King, about the cow of sugar, as it truly is—on earth smeared and covered with black antelope skin and sacred grass.
O King, making a cow of sugar, weighing four loads, is said by the virtuous to be the best; with a fourth part, a calf.
