सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः स्वर्गमेति जितेन्द्रियः
Freed from all sins, one who has mastered his senses attains heaven.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे श्वेतविनीताश्वोपाख्याने जलधेनुविधिर्नाम शततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Varaha Purana, in the story of Shvetavinitaashva, the one hundredth chapter named 'The Procedure for the Water-Cow' is concluded.
अथ रस धेनुदानमाहात्म्यम् रसधेनुविधानं ते कथयामि समासतः
Now, the greatness of the gift of the rasa-cow; I shall briefly tell you the procedure for the rasa-cow.
रसस्य तु घटं राजन् सम्पूर्णं त्वैक्षवस्य तु
O king, one should take a pot of rasa, and likewise one of sugarcane juice, both filled.
तुरीयांशेन वत्सं तु तत्पार्श्वे स्थापयेत्सुधीः
A wise person should place a calf at its side, made with a fourth part.
एवं कार्या रसैर्धेनुरिक्षुपादसमन्विता
Thus should a rasa-cow be made, furnished with sugarcane feet.
सुवर्णशृंगाभरणा वस्त्रपुच्छा घृतस्तनी
With golden horns and ornaments, a cloth for a tail, and ghee for udders,
दन्ताः फलमयास्तस्याः पृष्ठं ताम्रमयं शुभम्
its teeth made of fruit, its back auspicious and made of copper.
सप्तव्रीहिसमायुक्तां चतुर्दिक्षु च दीपिताम्
Adorned with seven grains of rice and made radiant in the four directions,
चत्वारि तिलपात्राणि चतुर्दिक्षु निवेशयेत्
He should place four bowls of sesame in the four directions.
रसधेनुः प्रदातव्या स्वर्गकामेन नित्यदा
One who desires heaven should always give a cow yielding sweet juice.
दाता च ग्राहकश्चैव एककालमभोजनः 101.
Both the giver and the receiver must fast for one meal on that day.
दीयमानां तु पश्यन्ति ते च यान्ति परां गतिम्
Those who witness the giving also attain the highest state.
पूर्वोक्तैरेव मन्त्रैस्तु ततस्तां प्रार्थयेत्सुधीः
Then, with the previously mentioned mantras, the wise should offer prayers for her.
दशपूर्वान्परांश्चैव आत्मानं चैकविंशकम्
He should dedicate ten ancestors, ten descendants, and himself as the twenty-first.
एषा ते कथिता राजन्रसधेनुरनुत्तमा
O King, thus I have described to you the unsurpassed cow yielding sweet juice.
य इदं पठते नित्यं शृणुयादथ भक्तितः
Whoever recites or listens to this daily with devotion—
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे श्वेतविनीताश्वोपाख्याने रसधेनुदानमाहात्म्यं नाम एकाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred and first chapter, entitled 'The Greatness of Giving the Cow Yielding Sweet Juice,' in the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa, in the narrative of Śveta and Vinītāśva.
गुडधेनुमाहात्म्यम् होतोवाच - गुडधेनुं प्रवक्ष्यामि सर्वकामार्थसाधिनीम् । अनुलिप्ते महीपृष्ठे कृष्णाजिनकुशास्तृते
The greatness of the sugar-cow. Hota spoke: I shall describe the sugar-cow, which fulfills all desires. On unsmeared earth, covered with black antelope skin and kuśa grass—
तस्योपरिकृतं वस्त्रं गुडमानीय पुष्कलम् । कृत्वा गुडमयीं धेनुं सवसाङ्कास्यदेहिनीम्
Upon that, place a cloth and bring abundant sugar. Fashion a cow out of sugar, complete with all its limbs and features.
सौवर्णे मुखशृङ्गे च दन्ताश्च मणिमौक्तिकैः । ग्रीवा रत्नमयी त्वस्या घ्राणं गन्धमयन्तथा
Her face and horns should be of gold, her teeth of gems and pearls; her neck adorned with jewels, and her nose with fragrant substances.
शृङ्गे त्वगुरुकाष्ठेन पृष्ठं ताम्रमयं तथा । पुच्छं क्षौममयं तस्याः सर्वाभरणभूषिताम्
Her horns should be of agaru wood, her back of copper; her tail of linen, and she should be adorned with all ornaments.
इक्षुपादां रौप्यखुरां कम्बलं पट्टसूत्रकम् । आच्छाद्य पट्टवस्त्रेण घण्टाचामरभूषिताम्
Her feet should be of sugarcane, her hooves of silver; cover her with a woolen blanket and silk cords, and adorn her with bells and yak-tail fans.
प्रशस्तपत्रश्रवणां नवनीतस्तनीं बुधः । फलैर्नानाविधस्तस्या उपशोभाम्प्रकल्पयेत्
Let her ears be of excellent leaves, her udders of fresh butter; the wise should further embellish her with various kinds of fruits.
उत्तमा गुडधेनुः स्यात्सदा धारचतुष्टयम् । भागार्धेन तु तौल्येन चतुर्थांशेन वत्सकम्
The best sugar-cow should always have four streams; with half a portion by weight, make the calf with a quarter portion.
मध्यमा च तदर्धेन भारेणैकेन चाधमा । वित्तहीनो यथाशक्त्या शतैरष्टाभिरेव च
The middle kind is made with half that weight, and the lowest with a single portion; one without wealth should make it according to his ability, or with eight hundred pieces.
अत ऊर्ध्वन्तु कर्तव्या गृहवित्तानुसारतः । गन्धपुष्पादिभिः पूज्य ब्राह्मणाय निवेदयेत् ॥ श्रोत्रियाय प्रदातव्या सहस्रकनकेन तु । तदर्धेन महाराज तस्याप्यर्धेन वा पुनः
After this, according to one's household wealth, one should worship with fragrances, flowers, and the like, and offer to a Brahmin. It should be given to a learned Brahmin, along with a thousand gold coins, or with half that amount, O King, or again with half of that.
शतेन वा शतार्धेन यथाशक्त्या निवेदयेत् । गन्धपुष्पदिभिः पूज्य मुद्रिकाकर्णपत्रकैः
Or with a hundred, or with half a hundred, one should offer as able, having worshipped with fragrances, flowers, and the like, along with rings, earrings, and leaf-ornaments.
छत्रिकापादुके दत्त्वा इमं मन्त्रमुदीरयेत् । गुडधेनो महावीर्ये सर्वसम्पत्प्रदे शुभे
Having given a parasol and sandals, one should recite this mantra: 'O cow of molasses, of great potency, bestower of all prosperity, auspicious one.'
दानादस्माच्च भोदेवि भक्ष्यभोज्यं प्रयच्छ मे । प्राङ्मुखोवापि दाता च ब्राह्मणाय निवेदयेत्
'By this gift, O blessed Earth, grant me food and sustenance.' The giver, even if facing east, should offer to a Brahmin.
