अथ जलधेनुदान विधिः जलधेनुं प्रवक्ष्यामि पुण्येऽह्नि विधिपूर्वकम्
Now, the procedure for donating the water-cow: I will describe the water-cow, performed according to the prescribed rite on an auspicious day.
तत्र मध्ये तु राजेन्द्र पूर्णं कुम्भं च विन्यसेत्
There, in the middle, O king, a full pot should be placed.
वासितं गन्धतोयेन तां धेनुं परिकल्पयेत्
The cow should be prepared, scented with fragrant water.
वर्द्धनीकं(वर्द्धनकिं) महाराज यन्त्रपुष्पैः समन्वितम्
A vessel for increase, O great king, furnished with mechanical flowers.
पंचरत्नानि निःक्षिप्य तस्मिन् कुम्भे नराधिप
Five gems should be deposited in that pot, O ruler of men.
धात्रीफलं सर्षपाश्च सर्वधान्यानि पार्थिव
The fruit of the dhatri tree, mustard seeds, and all grains, O king.
एकं घृतमयं पात्रं द्वितीयं दधिपूरितम्
One vessel made of ghee, and a second filled with curds.
सुवर्णमुखचक्षूंषि शृंगं कृष्णांगरेषु च
Golden mouth and eyes, horns black in color.
ताम्रपृष्ठां कांस्यदोहां दर्भरोमसमन्विताम्
With a copper back, bronze vessel for milking, and furnished with darbha grass fibers.
कम्बले पुष्पमालां च गुडास्यां शुक्तिदन्तिकाम् 100.
On a blanket, a garland of flowers, with a mouth of jaggery, and teeth made of shells.
इक्षुपादां तु राजेन्द्र गन्धपुष्पोपशोभिताम्
O king, one should prepare a cow made of sugarcane, adorned with fragrant flowers.
गन्धपुष्पैः समभ्यर्च्य विप्राय विनिवेदयेत्
Having worshipped it with fragrant flowers, one should offer it to a Brahmin.
साधुविप्राय राजेन्द्र श्रोत्रियायाहिताग्नये
O king, to a virtuous Brahmin, learned in the Vedas and maintaining the sacred fire.
यो ददाति नरो राजन् यः पश्यति शृणोति च
O king, whoever gives, sees, or hears of this,
ब्रह्महा पितृहा गोघ्नः सुरापो गुरुतल्पगः
—even a slayer of a Brahmin, a killer of parents, a destroyer of cows, a drinker of liquor, or one who approaches his teacher's wife—
विमुक्तः सर्वपापैस्तु विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति
is freed from all sins and attains the world of Vishnu.
जलधेनुं च यो दद्यात्सममेतन्नराधिप
O ruler of men, whoever gives a water-cow in its entirety,
ग्राहकोऽपि त्रिरात्रं वै तिष्ठेदेवं न संशयः
even the collector (of the gift) should remain for three nights—of this there is no doubt.
यत्र चाप्सरसां गीतं तत्र यान्ति जलप्रदाः
Wherever the Apsaras sing, there the givers of water-cows go.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः विष्णुसायुज्यमाप्नुयुः 100.
Freed from all sins, they attain union with Vishnu.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः स्वर्गमेति जितेन्द्रियः
Freed from all sins, one who has mastered his senses attains heaven.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे श्वेतविनीताश्वोपाख्याने जलधेनुविधिर्नाम शततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Varaha Purana, in the story of Shvetavinitaashva, the one hundredth chapter named 'The Procedure for the Water-Cow' is concluded.
अथ रस धेनुदानमाहात्म्यम् रसधेनुविधानं ते कथयामि समासतः
Now, the greatness of the gift of the rasa-cow; I shall briefly tell you the procedure for the rasa-cow.
रसस्य तु घटं राजन् सम्पूर्णं त्वैक्षवस्य तु
O king, one should take a pot of rasa, and likewise one of sugarcane juice, both filled.
तुरीयांशेन वत्सं तु तत्पार्श्वे स्थापयेत्सुधीः
A wise person should place a calf at its side, made with a fourth part.
एवं कार्या रसैर्धेनुरिक्षुपादसमन्विता
Thus should a rasa-cow be made, furnished with sugarcane feet.
सुवर्णशृंगाभरणा वस्त्रपुच्छा घृतस्तनी
With golden horns and ornaments, a cloth for a tail, and ghee for udders,
दन्ताः फलमयास्तस्याः पृष्ठं ताम्रमयं शुभम्
its teeth made of fruit, its back auspicious and made of copper.
सप्तव्रीहिसमायुक्तां चतुर्दिक्षु च दीपिताम्
Adorned with seven grains of rice and made radiant in the four directions,
चत्वारि तिलपात्राणि चतुर्दिक्षु निवेशयेत्
He should place four bowls of sesame in the four directions.
