अन्यथा मामपि बलाद्भक्ष्यायष्यन्ति ताः प्रभो एतासां शृणु देवेश भक्ष्यमेकं मयोदितम्
Otherwise, O Lord, they will forcibly eat me as well. Hear from me, O Lord of gods, the one food I declare for them.
कथ्य मानं वरारोहे कालरात्रे महाप्रभे
O beautiful one, tell me, O great lord Kalaratri.
परिधत्ते स्पृशेचापि पुरुषस्य विशेषतः
Let them especially touch or cover a man.
अन्याः सुतिगृहे च्छिद्रं गृह्णीयुस्तत्र पूजिताः
Let others, when worshipped, seize a breach in the house of childbirth.
गृहे क्षेत्रे तडागेषु वाप्युद्यानेषु चैव हि
In houses, fields, ponds, reservoirs, and gardens as well.
तासां शरीराण्याविश्य कचित्तृप्तिमवाप्स्यथ
Entering their bodies, you will attain some satisfaction.
मनोजवे जये जृम्भे भीमाक्ष क्षुभितक्षये
In speed of mind, victory, expansion, fierce-eyed agitation and destruction.
विकराले महाकालि कालिके पापहारिणि । पाशहस्ते दण्डहस्ते भीमरूपे भयानके
O fierce one, great Kāli, Kālikā, destroyer of sin; holding a noose, holding a staff, in a terrifying and dreadful form.
चामुण्डे ज्वमानास्ये तीक्ष्णदेष्टे महाबले
O Cāmuṇḍā, with flaming mouth, sharp teeth, and immense strength.
तुतोष परमा देवी वाक्यं चेद मुवाच ह । वरं वृणीष्व देवेश यत्ते मनास वर्तते
The supreme goddess was pleased and spoke these words: 'Choose a boon, O lord of gods, whatever is in your mind.'
रुद्र उवाच तेषां त्वं वरदा देवि भव सर्वगता सती
Rudra said: 'O goddess, be the bestower of boons to them, ever-present everywhere.'
यथेमं त्रिःप्रकारे तु देवि भक्त्या समान्यतः
Just as this, in threefold manner, O goddess, has been attained through devotion.
य एतां वेद वै देच्या उत्पत्ति त्रिविधां वरम्
Whoever knows this threefold origin of the goddess, indeed attains the boon.
भ्रष्टराज्यो यदा राजा नवम्यां नियतः शुचिः
When a king, deprived of his kingdom, observes the ninth day with purity and discipline,
संवत्सरेण लभते राज्यं निष्कण्टकं नृपः
Within a year, the king regains a kingdom free from obstacles.
एषा श्वेता परा सृष्टिः सात्त्विकी ब्रह्मसंस्थिता
This is the supreme white creation, sattvic, established in Brahman.
एषैत्र कृष्णा तमसि रौद्री देवी प्रकीर्तिता
This here is the black, tamasic, fierce goddess, so proclaimed.
प्रयोजनक्शाच्छक्तिरेकैव त्रिविधाऽभवत्
For the sake of purpose, the one power became threefold.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः परं निर्वाणमाप्नुयात्
Freed from all sin, one attains the supreme liberation.
न तस्याग्निभयं घारं सर्पचौरादिनं भवेत्
He has no fear of fire, slaughter, serpents, thieves, or similar dangers.
तेन चेष्टुं भवेत्सर्वं त्रैलोक्यं सचराचरम्
By this, everything in the three worlds, both moving and unmoving, becomes subject to him.
रत्नान्यश्वास्तथा गावो दासा दास्यो भवन्ति हि
Jewels, horses, cows, male and female servants indeed become his.
श्रीवराह उषाच रुद्धस्य खलु माहात्म्यं सकलं कीर्तितं मया
Śrī Varāha said: I have now recounted in full the greatness of Rudra.
नवकोट्यस्तु चामुण्डा भभिन्ना व्यवस्थिताः
There are indeed ninety million forms of Cāmuṇḍā established.
अष्टादश तथा कोट्यो वैष्णव्या भेदू उच्यते
And there are said to be one hundred and eighty million forms of Vaiṣṇavī.
या ब्रह्मशाक्तः सत्त्वस्था सा ह्यनन्ता प्रकार्तिता
She who is established in sattva, who is both of Brahman and Śakti, is declared to be infinite.
सर्वस भगवान् रुखः सर्वगश्च पतिर्भवेत्
The Lord is indeed all, Rudra; he is all-pervading and the master of all.
इति श्रीवराहपुराणे त्रिशक्तिमाहात्म्ये त्रिशक्ति रहस्यं नाम षण्णवतितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the ninety-sixth chapter, named 'The Secret of the Three Powers,' in the Triśakti Māhātmya of the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa.
वराह उवाच येन ज्ञातेन पापेभ्यो मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
Varāha said: By knowing this, one is freed from sins—of this there is no doubt.
