श्राद्धोत्पत्ति स्ततः प्रोक्तं पिण्डं संकल्प एव च

Then, the origin of the śrāddha rite is explained, as well as the piṇḍa and the resolve (saṃkalpa).

मधुपर्क्कफलं दाने संसारचक्रवर्णनम्

The fruit of offering madhuparka, and the description of the cycle of worldly existence.

कृतान्तदूतकथनं यातनारूपमेव च

The narration of the messengers of Death, and likewise the forms of torment.

तथा कर्मविपाकं च यादृशं कर्म तादृशम्

And also the result of actions: as the deed, so its consequence.

शुभाशुभस्य कथनं शुभकर्मफलोदयम्

The account of good and evil, and the arising of the fruit of virtuous action.

पापनाशकथां दिव्यां गोकर्णेशसमुद्भवम्

The divine story of the destruction of sin, originating from Gokarṇeśa.

शृंगेश्वरस्य महिमा चैवं वृत्तान्तसंग्रहः

And the greatness of Śṛṅgeśvara, thus the summary of the narrative.

इत्यनुक्रमणिका नाम अष्टादशाधिकद्विशततमोऽध्यायः

Thus ends the table of contents, the two hundred eighteenth chapter.
