Let this highly fortunate soul now journey to the eternal Lord of the gods. With all his power united, he has provided for the twice-born, ensuring their well-being through his generous actions. By his deeds, the delightful realms of Rudra will endure for an age, and he has offered to the twice-born gifts led by honey and sugar—a young, auspicious cow, full of milk and adorned with gold. I have seen his record: three crore years in heaven await him as a result of his merit. Let the giver of gold be announced to the gods, for there, this great-souled one will obtain whatever he desires. Let him ascend together with his ancestors, by whom his forebears have been satisfied. This blessed one, always intent on the welfare of all beings, aspires for great things. Now let this giver of land to the twice-born rise to heaven, honored with various enjoyments of desire, for he is truly the best of men. Thus concludes the two hundred and fifth chapter of the blessed Varaha Purana, describing the fruits of good and evil deeds in the cycle of existence. Now begins the section on the rise of the fruits of virtuous deeds, as spoken by Chitragupta. This one, who welcomes all guests, who is self-controlled and compassionate to all beings—release him, release him, O great servant; this is the judgment of righteousness. The wicked, deformed by sin, shall remain at my side, but let a divine seat be given to this one, and likewise other vehicles; whatever desires he wishes in his mind, let those also be granted. All this must be given quickly, by the command of the Lord of Dharma. Let this highly fortunate one, along with his retinue, behold and enjoy the rewards of his virtue. Then, with excellent vehicles, accompanied by his followers and attendants, let him go to the abode of the gods, honored by the deities. Having attained his purpose, he will always be fulfilled in the world, wherever he may go. Not only one who gives a single maiden, nor only one who performs a single sacrifice, but this steadfast one—let him delight there for thousands and tens of thousands of years. For he is compassionate to beings; let worship be performed for him. Then, afterwards, he is born again, honored by all people. To him who has given gifts repeatedly, offer worship, for his touch is gentle and cool. Let the four great lotuses remain there always, and he will attain birth in a family blessed with many beautiful women. Let this one come to our side and offer him worship. Thousands of vessels filled with cow's milk are there for him. Then let him go onward to where the people are free from envy, where the great ascetic is served by many beautiful women. This, too, is another statement spoken by Chitragupta: they bear nectar and move about on the earth. It is the purest of the pure, and the nourishment of the nourished. All the gods and Maheshvara are satisfied by milk, and they are pleased for thirteen years by a single offering.
