The Earth, with trembling words, asked if there might be another secret, auspicious field. Then, Nṛsiṃha, the Lord of the worlds, creator of the gods, surrounded by both gods and asuras, steadfast and heroic among the divine, listened to her plea. Hearing the Earth’s request, Janārdana—the Supreme—responded with compassion. Śrī Varāha spoke: “I shall reveal another secret, the origin of my vow and actions. Journey now to Siddhavaṭa, thirty yojanas distant. There, in the field of Lohārgala, an auspicious dwelling is established. This place is difficult and unbearable, surrounded everywhere by sins. Yet there I reside, O blessed one, established in the northern direction. From Lohārgala, all the Dānavas ascend, reaching the highest world. There, Brahmā, the Rudras, Skanda, Indra, and the hosts of Maruts, along with Soma, Bṛhaspati, and all the dwellers of heaven, have been cast down in countless numbers—hundreds of billions of thousands—swiftly sent there. Thus, the field called Lohārgala was established by me. There, the installation of those beings of great power was accomplished. Whoever is devoted to the Lord becomes firmly established on earth in this sacred field. After fasting for three nights and performing the prescribed rites, one departs from life there, having completed one’s actions. But listen, for I shall tell you of another wondrous place. On the twenty-fourth Dvādaśī, according to the monthly rite for me, a horse is prepared—adorned with all jewels. My arrows and bow are present, as well as an axle-cord and water-pot. Ascending the White Mountain, I descend upon many Kurus. Many forms are cast down from the sky in this place. At this point, Sūta narrated: Filled with supreme wonder, enhanced by Viṣṇu’s power, the wise son of Brahmā—Sanatkumāra—was overwhelmed with amazement. He said, “O goddess, you have directly beheld the Lord of the worlds. He, whose eyes are broad as lotus petals, whom you addressed, has revealed the supreme and secret dharma, composed by the best of gods. Tell me, what did that lotus-eyed one say next?” Sūta continued: He spoke sweet words, addressing the son of Brahmā. “Listen, child,” the Lord of the universe said, “in that sacred place, actions are performed according to prescribed rules. There are purifying acts for sins, gentle and auspicious deeds as well. No other bears them, and my steeds are difficult to surpass. There, four streams fall, swift as the mind and white as conch shells. One who reaches the world of Citrāṅgada delights there with the Gandharvas. Leaving the Gandharva world behind, he attains my realm. In another place, five streams fall, resembling palm trees. There, the devotee beholds the divine sage Nārada and rejoices together with him. Departing from Nārada, he attains my divine realm. And in yet another place, three streams fall—not thick nor too slender.” Thus, the Lord revealed the mysteries of these auspicious fields, their sacred rites, and the journeys of souls, all flowing towards his divine realm.
