Having traversed the world of the sages, one beholds Arundhatī, radiant among them. From there, the journey continues, leaving behind the sages’ realm, and the seeker attains the world of Varāha himself. This pilgrimage, this salutation, is performed diligently for twelve years, marking the soul’s devotion. Yet, those who are wicked and deluded by the Lord’s māyā fail to perceive Him; His presence remains hidden from their eyes. But for the pure devotees, those whose hearts are steadfast and unclouded, the Lord reveals himself, and they behold Him directly. There exists a place known as Jaṭākuṇḍa, situated in the northwestern direction, south of the Malaya mountains and north of the ocean. When one reaches Agastibhakna, joy fills the heart—this is certain and without doubt. Leaving the abode of Agasti, the journey leads again to the Lord’s world. O noble lady, the great ocean is vast and unfathomable. All that people see around them, O beautiful-hipped one, does not increase the water of the ocean so long as it remains within its bounds. This is both wondrous and authoritative, a marvel that increases the glory of devotion. But, O beautiful-hipped one, whoever walks the path of eightfold devotion, whoever recites these teachings daily, and whoever listens to them with joy, must never forget them at the time of death, under any circumstance. O blessed one, thus has Varāha explained all that was asked, completing the chapter named ‘The Greatness of Sānandūra’ in the divine scripture of the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa. Now begins the tale of Lohārgala’s glory. Having heard of Sānandūra’s greatness, Vasundharā, the Earth, spoke: “O greatly fortunate one, hearing this, all my distress is relieved. Is there perhaps another secret, auspicious field?” She addressed the creator of the gods, Nṛsiṃha, lord of worlds, surrounded by gods and asuras, steadfast and heroic among the divine. Hearing the trembling words of the Earth, Janārdana, the Lord, replied: “I shall declare another secret, the origin of my vow and action.” He spoke of Siddhavaṭa, thirty yojanas distant. There, in the field of Lohārgala, an auspicious dwelling is established. It is a place difficult to reach, surrounded everywhere by sins, and yet there the Lord himself resides, established in the northern direction. From Lohārgala, all the Dānavas ascend and reach the highest world. There, Brahmā, the Rudras, Skanda, Indra, the Maruts, Soma, Bṛhaspati, and all the dwellers of heaven—hundreds of billions—were swiftly cast down. Thus, the Lord established the sacred field of Lohārgala, and there the installation of beings of great power was accomplished. He who is devoted to the Lord becomes firmly established on earth. After fasting for three nights and performing the prescribed rites, one departs from life, having completed all actions. Moreover, the Lord revealed another wondrous place: On the twenty-fourth Dvādaśī, according to the monthly rite for Varāha, a horse is prepared for Him, adorned with all jewels, marking a sacred celebration. Thus, the story flows from the greatness of Sānandūra to the secret glory of Lohārgala, as told by Varāha to Vasundharā, fulfilling her quest for divine mysteries.
