O Vasundhara, listen as I reveal further truths to you. Among beings, some cross the ocean of worldly existence by the power of knowledge, steadfast in wisdom; others are anchored in action, devoted to their duties. Some, having tasted the fruits of yoga, perceive my presence abiding everywhere. There are those who faithfully perform all their obligations, some who are filled with desires, and others who are engaged in various transactions. Thus, O goddess, this great scripture stands as the means for liberation from worldly bondage. According to their inclinations, people will teach and follow these teachings in ways that please them. Influenced by the age, O Earth, they act thus, each according to their nature. Yet, by my grace, all may attain the highest accomplishment in me. If any fault arises in my scripture, those who err will be born again in this world. But for those whose hearts are afflicted by envy, there is no higher world to be gained. By following my path, O beloved, one attains my supreme secret. Those whose conduct is lost due to envy fall downward, unable to rise. One who is joined with envy does not perceive me anywhere, whether endowed with austerity and knowledge or always engaged in action. Such people, corrupted by illusion, do not see me, O Earth. Yet, one who is devoted to my scripture and desires the supreme goal will surely attain it. This scripture, O highly fortunate one, has been set forth by me according to proper rule. Now, O noble one, listen to the wondrous matter concerning my Bhūtagiri. Some declare it is made of bronze, others say it is of iron. Whether above or below, those who worship me, and those who behold me established upon Maṇipūra mountain, having enjoyed the virtues of teachers, remain upon the path of my actions. In that field, O noble one, my supreme secret resides. There, a man should bathe, observing the five prescribed times, and departing from life in that place, he fulfills his purpose. Bhṛgukuṇḍa is renowned here; in this place too lies my supreme secret. There, one should bathe, following my path. Where Dhruva stands, upon the summit of Meru amidst rocky heights, departing from life there, one who remains upon my path of action attains fulfillment. Maṇikuṇḍa is renowned in that place; there too lies my supreme secret. That deep heart, O blessed one, is difficult even for the gods to attain. There, a man should bathe, observing the five prescribed times, and departing from life there, one who remains upon my path of action achieves the supreme goal. A most secret place lies on the eastern side of my field, O beautiful one. There, one should bathe, and he attains my world. At a distance of five krośas to the west of my sacred field, there is a place, golden in appearance and deep as an emerald, which I have fashioned. Performing arduous deeds, established in the self of the five elements, he attains Indra’s realm, O fair-hipped one, and rejoices there together with the gods. Abandoning Indra’s realm, he attains my own world. And, O wide-eyed one, he dwells upon my mountain, Maṇipūra.
