Śrī Varāha, the divine Boar, spoke with serene authority, declaring, “I am utterly free from envy; therefore, I am the supreme Lord.” With a gentle smile, he assured Dharaṇī, the Earth, “This scripture, O highly fortunate one, has been revealed by me as a divine play.” Hearing these words, Dharaṇī was filled with joy and reverence. She responded, “Just so, just so, O immeasurable Lord Varāha; you delight both heart and mind, O Janārdana.” Moved by the Earth’s devotion, the great-minded Varāha, foremost in righteousness, continued, “I shall now reveal a secret that brings happiness to the world. It is renowned as ‘Stutasvāmi,’ my supreme and hidden field. Know that I am the son of Vasudeva, born from the womb of Devakī. In that form, I will have five excellent disciples, wise and discerning. When I descend to the earth, these disciples will establish me as the embodiment of Dharma. And Bhṛgu, O highly fortunate one, will follow my path. By their own knowledge, they will always make my glory shine forth.” “As time passes, devoted to my actions, I will grant them boons—each according to what abides in his heart. Where Dharma is firmly established, there the scripture of the Self will be upheld. By your grace, O Lord, may this world proceed rightly. There will be no doubt, for you all are dear to me. Therefore, these disciples will proclaim all that is cherished by the devotees of Bhagavān.” “In all the scriptures, the teachings of Varāha are esteemed as clarified butter, the essence. Thus, I have spoken equally with myself, indeed, through my own Self. This supreme and subtle knowledge is found among the devoted ones of the Earth. I will tell you something further; listen closely, O Vasundhara. Some cross over by knowledge, some are steadfast in action. Some, having enjoyed the power of yoga, perceive my abiding presence. Some are performers of all duties, some are filled with all desires, some are engaged in all transactions. Thus, O goddess, this great scripture is the means for liberation from worldly existence. They will teach accordingly, each according to what pleases them. By the influence of the age, O Earth, people act thus. By my grace, all of them will attain the highest accomplishment in me.” “If there is any fault in my scripture, for them there is rebirth in this world. For those whose hearts are afflicted by envy, there is no higher world. By following my path, O beloved, one attains my supreme secret. But those whose conduct is lost due to the fault of envy fall downward. One who is joined with envy does not see me anywhere. Whether endowed with austerity and knowledge, or always engaged in actions, they do not see me, O Earth, being corrupted by illusion. But one devoted to my scripture here, if he desires the supreme goal, will surely attain it.” “This scripture, O highly fortunate one, has been set forth by me according to rule. O noble one, listen to the wondrous matter concerning my Bhūtagiri. Some say it is made of bronze, while others declare it to be of iron. Whether above or below, those who worship me—those who behold me, O Earth, established upon Maṇipūra mountain—are truly blessed.” Thus, Śrī Varāha revealed his divine teachings, bestowing wisdom and assurance to the Earth and all devotees, guiding them toward the supreme secret and the highest accomplishment in him.
