In a sacred region, it is said that a person who visits attains the merit of four horse sacrifices. After enjoying the fruits of such great rites, he rejoices in the world of the divine, the world belonging to the speaker. Throughout this holy land, stones marked with the discus are found scattered here and there, bearing the sign of divinity. O Earth, know that this blessed area stretches all around for three yojanas. Within its bounds, one can also gain the benefit of three sacrifices. Having enjoyed the fruits of the renowned Vājapeya sacrifice, the devotee ascends to the divine world. Here, three streams descend, resting upon the snowy peak, their waters pure and invigorating. By observing three nights of austerity, one attains the pure fruit of such dedication. After enjoying the results of the Atirātra rite, he is honored in the divine world. In this place, a lake’s current flows forth from beneath a jujube tree, and here, a person attains the merit of the Naramedha sacrifice. Having enjoyed the fruit of this rite, he delights in the divine realm. Hidden within this land is a secret, supreme field called Śaṅkhaprabha. Within Śaṅkhaprabha lies the celebrated place known as Gadākuṇḍa. There, a man should bathe after fasting for three nights; then, he departs this life, accomplished and endowed with virtues. Again, there is another secret, supreme field called Agniprabha. Whoever bathes there after fasting for four nights will, at that place, relinquish his life, established in the deeds of the divine. O noble one, listen now to a wondrous thing spoken of in this realm. In that supreme field is the secret place called Sarvāyudha. Here, a man should bathe after fasting for seven nights; then he departs this life, resolved in divine actions. In another sacred spot, one should bathe after fasting for eight nights. Here, life is relinquished, free from greed and delusion. There is a secret place called Vidyādhara, which is the supreme field of the divine. Whoever bathes there, having stayed for a single night, gives up life devoid of passion and free from fatigue. In this supreme and secret field, there flows a river called Puṇyanadī. After staying for eight nights, one should bathe in its waters; here, a devotee gives up life, following the will of the divine. This field is renowned as Gandharva. There, after staying for four nights, a man should bathe, and here, life is given up in devotion to divine actions. There is also a place called Devahrada, a sacred field of the divine, O Earth. This lake bestows boons—it is excellent, delightful, and pleasantly cool. In that great and blessed lake, amidst the sacred waters, the faithful are graced. And now, O Earth, listen to something else. The faithful one perceives these wonders, but the sinful man does not. At sunrise, golden lotuses are seen there, shining as a sign of divine favor and beauty.
