In that sacred realm, all beings are blessed with prosperity, untouched by disease or illness. Joy fills their hearts, a happiness bestowed by the grace that springs forth from my own divine field. Now, listen as I recount another tale from the time of my incarnation as the boar. Freed from the cycle of birth among animals, these fortunate souls found their way to the radiant White Island. One who is devoted to me quickly delivers liberation to his lineage—ten generations of ancestors before him and ten after are uplifted. Yet, this sacred recitation should not be performed among those who slander or mock, but rather alone at home, or in the presence of Vaiṣṇavas—those virtuous souls who embody the teachings of the scriptures. Thus concludes the chapter known as “The Story of Khañjarīṭa” in the glorious Varāha Purāṇa. Now, O goddess, hear from me the true greatness of the boar form and the results of these sacred acts as they are written. When one takes cow dung and uses it to plaster the ground of my abode, that person delights in the heavenly realms for thousands of divine years. Such a soul is reborn into a vast and pure family, endowed with abundant wealth and grain. Upon reaching Kuśa Island, he lives there for thousands of years. Even if he falls from Kuśa Island, his devotion to my deeds continues to uplift him. By the power of this devotion, he establishes all my shrines and sacred abodes. Now, O Vasundharā, let me speak further about cow dung. Whoever, whether near or far, brings cow dung for my worship is honored as a leader in the heavenly world. For eleven thousand and eleven hundred years, such a person is celebrated, and is reborn as my devotee, foremost among those who know all dharmas. Whoever properly carries cow dung attains my divine realm. O highly fortunate one, listen without omission to the merit earned by such a deed: for as many thousands of years, he is honored in heaven. A king who has fallen from Krauñca-dvīpa becomes righteous through these acts. Now, listen as I explain the act of cleansing, O Earth. One who performs this act is pure, devoted to the Lord, spotless, and free from transgression. For hundreds of years, he is honored in the heavenly realms. After dwelling there for a long time, the king becomes truly righteous, and pure in heart, he ascends to Śvetadvīpa, the White Island. Those who sing with devotion, intent on my deeds, earn merit for every syllable sung. Such a person is reborn handsome, virtuous, accomplished, and foremost among those who know all the Vedas. He becomes my devotee, established firmly on the path to Indra’s world. Even after falling from Indra’s world, if he remains devoted to my songs, he is born again on earth among the Vaiṣṇavas. By my grace, with a pure soul, he ultimately attains my own divine realm. At this point, Sūta said: With hands joined in reverence, Earth once more spoke. She asked, “Who are those of great might who have attained perfection through the power of song?” And Varāha replied: “Even from afar, one who stays awake and steadfast in devotion to me attains that supreme state.
