As long as the worlds endure, O Great Lord, may devotion to you, Janardana, remain unshaken for as long as your divine abode exists. This is the cherished desire of my heart, the one I hold most dear and uphold above all else. After I had listened to the words of the sage Raibhya, I spoke again. O Earth, when the brahmin heard my words in this way, he was filled with wonder. O Lord, the greatness of this foremost of sacred fords, and all the other holy fords established in this region, is truly remarkable. Now, listen to me, O brahmin, as I speak the truth you seek. There is a sacred ford, shaped like a water-lily, situated at Kubjāmra. During the months of Kaumuda and Mārgaśīrṣa, whoever—be it woman, man, or one of neither sex—gives up their life there, attains great merit. Moreover, O Earth, let me tell you something further. Whoever bathes at this holy place, O wide-eyed one, goes to the Nandana forest, the celestial garden. After a full thousand years, that person is born into a noble family. And if, on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Kartika, one gives up their life there, they attain even greater good fortune. Now, hear yet another secret, O Earth. If one offers water at the Māyā-tīrtha, O illustrious brahmin, one attains supreme nourishment, as if entering the very abode of Kubera, the lord of wealth. Or, if one dies there at Māyā-tīrtha, O renowned one, they gain blessedness. Again, listen as I reveal more, O Earth. Whoever bathes there on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Vaiśākha, or gives up their life at the Sārṣapaka tīrtha, achieves great merit. Let me tell you further, O beautiful-eyed one: there, the waters are as pure and cool as the Ganges herself. Having bathed, O lovely-hipped one, a person ascends to the realm of Soma and is honored among the celestials. Then, having enjoyed heaven, one is reborn as a Brāhmaṇa. Or, if one dies there in the month of Mārgaśīrṣa, they constantly behold me, radiant and four-armed. Again, O Earth, listen to something more. If one becomes single-minded, devoted, and a follower of me, whoever bathes at that tīrtha at any time, after having fallen from heaven, by the power of that tīrtha, on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Vaiśākha, that person is freed from birth and death, from fatigue and from all fear. Now, O Earth, let me tell you something else. I will describe to you the sign by which this sacred place is known, O auspicious one. In the month of Māgha, O lovely-hipped one, on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight, at that sacred water, one may come and go freely as one wishes. There, O Earth, if one dies on that auspicious day, they attain liberation. And again, O Earth, hear this: in that grove of Kubjāmra, O blessed one, that place is especially dear to me.
