Listen, O auspicious one, as I reveal to you the thirty-two offenses and the wondrous determination concerning the rules of food. When one eats, O Madhavi, it is done for my yoga; thus, the knower of righteousness should always partake of food with awareness. Now, let me declare the forbidden acts by which people consume me. First, food obtained through transgression does not please me, dear one. The second transgression, indeed, becomes an obstacle to righteousness. O Earth, I now designate the third transgression. As for the fourth, if it is seen, I do not forgive it. Nor do I forgive, O Earth, the fifth and the sixth transgressions. O Earth, I designate the seventh and the eighth transgressions. I do not approve of the ninth, and the tenth is displeasing to me. O Earth, I designate the eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth transgressions. O beautiful-faced one, I designate the sixteenth transgression. O Earth, I establish the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth offenses. O beautiful-faced one, I establish the twentieth offense. O Earth, I establish the twenty-first, and, O beloved, I always establish the twenty-second offense. O Earth, I establish the twenty-third, twenty-fourth, and twenty-fifth offenses. O Earth, I establish the twenty-sixth among the offenses. O virtuous one, I establish the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth offenses. The nineteenth offense, in particular, does not lead one to the heavens. O illustrious one, I establish the thirtieth offense. O wise one, I establish the thirty-first offense. O beloved, the thirty-second offense is considered a great offense. Yet, having performed the necessary act in accordance with righteousness, one attains my world. Such a person is devoted to nonviolence and compassion toward all beings. They restrain the group of senses, remain free from transgression, are knowledgeable in the scriptures, skilled, and devoted to my actions.
