स्कन्धपत्राङ्कुरलतापल्लवाय नमो ऽस्तु ते
Salutations to you, O one who is the branch, leaf, shoot, and sprout.
नाभ्या ह्यभूदन्तरिक्षं शशाङ्को मनसस्तव
From your navel arose the mid-space; the moon from your mind.
पार्श्वाद् विशश्चेरुयुगाज्जाताः शूद्राश्च पादतः
From your sides the twin gods were born, and the Śūdras from your feet.
नाभ्या ह्यभूदन्तरिक्षं शशाङ्को मनसस्तव
From your navel arose the mid-space; the moon from your mind.
क्रोधात् त्रिनयनो रुद्रः शीर्ष्णोः द्यौः समवर्तत
From anger, the three-eyed Rudra; from your head, the sky was produced.
ओषध्यो रोमसंभूता विराजस्त्वं नमो ऽस्तु ते
Plants arose from your hair; O Virāj, salutations to you.
ओङ्कारस्त्वं वषट्कारो वौषट् त्वं च स्वधा सुधा
You are the syllable Om, the utterance vaṣaṭ, the invocation vauṣaṭ, and the offerings svadhā and sudhā.
सर्वाकार निराकार वेदाकार नमो ऽस्तु ते
You are all forms and formlessness, the embodiment of the Vedas; I bow to you.
सर्वतीर्थमयश्चैव सर्वयज्ञमयस्तथा
You are the essence of all sacred waters and likewise the essence of all sacrifices.
नमः सहस्रधाराय शतधाराय ते नमः
Salutations to you with a thousand streams, and salutations to you with a hundred streams.
सुवर्णब्रह्मदात्रे च सर्वदात्रे च ते नमः
Salutations to you, giver of gold and Brahman, and giver of all things.
परब्रह्म नमस्ते ऽस्तु शब्दब्रह्म नमो ऽस्तु ते
Salutations to you, Supreme Brahman; salutations to you, Brahman in sound.
बुद्धिस्त्वमपि बोध्यश्च बोधस्त्वं च नमो ऽस्तु ते
You are intellect, you are also what is to be understood, and you are knowledge itself; I bow to you.
पाता पोता च पुतश्च पावनीयश्च ॐ नमः
You are the protector, the vessel, the purifier, and the sanctifier; Om, salutations.
हर्त्ता नेता च नीतिश्च पूज्यो ऽग्र्यो विश्वधार्यसि
You are the remover, the leader, the guide, the revered, the foremost, and the supporter of the universe.
यज्ञपात्राणेयस्त्वमेकधा बहुधा त्रिधा
You are the sacrificial vessels, onefold, manifold, and threefold.
ज्ञाता ज्ञेयस्तथा ज्ञानं ध्येयो ध्यातासि चेश्वर
You are the knower, the object to be known, knowledge itself, the object of meditation, the meditator, and the Lord.
योगाङ्गानि त्वमीशानः सर्वगस्त्वं नमो ऽस्तु ते
You are the limbs of yoga, O Lord; you are all-pervading. I bow to you.
दीक्षा त्वं त्वं पुरोडाशस्त्वं पशुः पशुवाह्यसि
You are initiation, you are the sacrificial cake, you are the sacrificial animal, and you are the carrier of the animal.
महाजनो निरयनः सहस्रार्केन्दुरूपवान्
You are the great person, the path, and you possess the forms of a thousand suns and moons.
कालचक्रो भवानीशो नमस्ते पुरुषोत्तमः
You are the lord of the wheel of time, O Lord of existence; salutations to you, Supreme Person.
नरेश्वरो ऽथ ब्रह्मेशः सूर्येशस्त्वं नमो ऽस्तु ते
You are the lord of men, the lord of Brahma, the lord of the sun; I bow to you.
मित्रावरुणमूर्तिस्त्वममूर्तिरनघः परः
You are the form of Mitra and Varuṇa, you are formless, sinless, and supreme.
त्वमूर्ध्वकर्त्ता ऊर्ध्वश् च ऊर्ध्वरेता नमो ऽस्तु ते
You are the creator above, you are above, and you are of upward-flowing energy; I bow to you.
अनीशः सर्वपापेभ्यस्त्वामहं शरणं गतः
Helpless before all sins, I have taken refuge in you.
महेश्वरेण कथितं वाराणस्यां पुरा मुने
This was once spoken by the great Lord in Varanasi, O sage.
उपशान्तस्तथा जातो रुद्रः पापवशात् ततः
Thus, Rudra became tranquil, having been overcome by sin.
विमुक्तपापो ह्युपशान्तमूर्ति संपूज्यते देववरैः प्रसिद्धैः
Freed from sin, with a peaceful form, he is worshipped by the renowned best of gods.
येन सम्यगधीतेन पापं नाशं तु गच्चति
By whomsoever this is properly recited, sin is indeed destroyed.
हयशीर्षं नमस्ते ऽहं भवं विष्णुं त्रिविक्रमम्
I bow to Hayashirsha, to Bhava, to Vishnu, to Trivikrama.
