त्रिसौवर्णं महादेवमर्बुदेशं जगाम ह
He went to Arbudadeśa to see Mahādeva, the golden one.
कालिञ्जरं समभ्येत्य नीलकण्ठं ददर्श सः
Arriving at Kāliñjara, he saw Nīlakaṇṭha.
जगाम सागरानूपे प्रभासे द्रष्टुमीश्वरम्
He went to Prabhāsa on the sea shore to see the Lord.
सोमेश्वरं लोकपतिं ददर्श स कपर्दिनम्
He saw Someśvara, the lord of the world, the matted-haired one.
आप्यायितः शङ्करेण विष्णुना सकपर्दिना
He was honored by Śaṅkara, by Viṣṇu, the one with matted hair.
तत्र रुद्रं समभ्यर्च्य प्रजगामोत्तरान् कुरून्
There, having worshipped Rudra, he went to the northern Kurus.
तत्र स्नात्वार्ऽच्य विश्वेशं भीमं त्रैलोक्यवन्दितम्
There, after bathing, he worshipped Viśveśa, the formidable one, revered by the three worlds.
तमर्च्य ब्राह्मणीं गत्वा स्नात्वार्ऽच्य त्रिदशेश्वरम्
Having worshipped him, he went to Brāhmaṇī, and after bathing, worshipped the lord of the gods.
ततश्च कुण्डिनं गत्वा संपूज्य प्रामतृप्तिदम्
Then, going to Kuṇḍina, he duly honored the giver of satisfaction to the ancestors.
मागधारण्यमासाद्य ददर्श वसुधाधिपम्
Reaching the forest of Magadha, he saw the lord of the earth.
महातीर्थे ततः स्नात्वा वासुदेवं प्रणम्य च
Then, after bathing at the great sacred place and bowing to Vāsudeva,
महाकोश्यां महादेवं हंसाख्यं भक्तिमानथ
In Mahākośa, he, devoted, worshipped Mahādeva known as Haṃsa.
पूजयित्वा महाबाहुः प्रजागाम त्रिविष्टपम्
Having worshipped him, the mighty-armed one went to Triviṣṭapa.
तं दृष्ट्वार्ऽच्य हरिं चासौ तीर्थं कनखलं ययौ
Seeing and worshipping Hari there, he went to the sacred place Kanakhala.
धनाधिपं च मेघङ्कं ययावथ गिरिव्रजम्
He went to the lord of wealth, Meghaṅka, and then to Girivraja.
संपूजयित्वा पिधिवत्कामरूपं जगाम ह
Having worshipped Kāmarūpa properly, he went on.
जगाम तीर्थप्रवरं महाख्यं तस्मिन् महादेवमपूजयत्
He went to the foremost sacred place, called Mahākhya, and there worshipped Mahādeva.
तमीड्य भक्त्या तु गजेन्द्रसोक्षणं जजाप जप्यं परमं पवित्रम्
Praising him with devotion, he recited the supreme, pure prayer for the remover of Gajendra's sorrow.
निवेद्य विप्रप्रवरेषु काञ्चनं जगाम घोरं स हि दण्डकं वनम्
Having offered gold to the foremost of Brāhmaṇas, he went to the dreadful Daṇḍaka forest.
ददर्श पुण्डरीकाक्षं महाश्वापदवारणम्
He saw Puṇḍarīkākṣa, the remover of great beasts of prey.
स्थितः स्थिण्डिलशायी तु पठन् सारस्वतं स्तवम्
Remaining there, lying on the bare ground, he recited the Sarasvata hymn.
जगाम दानवो द्रष्टुं सर्वपापहरं हरिम्
The Dānava went to see Hari, the remover of all sins.
यौ पुरा भगवान् प्राह क्रोडरूपी जनार्दनः
Those two whom the Lord once spoke of, when he took the form of a boar, O Janardana.
पूजयन् भगवत्पादौ महाभागवतो मुने
The great devotee, O sage, worshipping the feet of the Lord.
यत्कीर्त्तनाच्छ्रवणात् स्पर्शनाच्च विमुक्तपापा मनुजा भवन्ति
By singing, hearing, or touching that, humans are freed from sin.
गजेन्द्रमोक्षणादींस्तु चतुरस्तान् वदस्व मे
Tell me about the four, beginning with the deliverance of Gajendra.
दुःस्वप्ननाशो भवति यैरुक्तैः संश्रुतैः स्मृतैः
The destruction of evil dreams occurs by reciting, hearing, or remembering those.
सारस्वतं ततः पुण्यौ पापप्रशमनौ स्तवौ
Then the Sarasvata hymn, which is holy and removes sin.
सुतः पर्वतराजस्य सुमेरोर्भास्करद्युतेः
The son of the king of mountains, Sumeru, radiant like the sun.
उत्थितः सागरं भित्त्वा देवर्षिगणसेवितः
He rose, breaking through the ocean, attended by hosts of gods and sages.
