व्रीडोपप्लुतदेहस्तु प्रणिपातपरो ऽभवत्
His body, overwhelmed by shame, became devoted to prostration.
निकृत्तो न स्वरभावो मे सो ऽच्छेद्यो ऽदाह्य एव च
Though cut, my essential nature is not destroyed; it cannot be severed or burned.
कृतानि तानि पुण्यनि भविष्यन्ति न सशयः
Those virtuous deeds which have been performed will surely bear fruit, without doubt.
तृतीयश्च विरूपाक्षस्त्रयो ऽमी पुण्यदा नृणाम्
The third is Virupaksha; these three grant merit to men.
श्रीदाम्नि निहते विष्णो नन्दयिष्यन्ति देवताः
When Shri Damni is slain by Vishnu, the gods will rejoice.
गत्वा सुरगिरिप्रस्थं श्रीदामानं ददर्श ह
Having gone to the summit of the divine mountain, he saw Shri Damna.
मुमोच चक्रं वेगाढ्यं हतो ऽसीति ब्रुवन्मुहुः
He released the discus with great speed, repeatedly declaring, 'He is slain.'
संछिन्नसीर्षो निपपात शैलाद् वज्राहतं शैलशिरो यथैव
His head severed, he fell from the mountain like a mountain peak struck by a thunderbolt.
लब्ध्वा च चक्रं प्रवरं महायुधं जगाम देवो निलयं पयोनिधिम्
Having obtained the excellent discus, the great weapon, the god went to his abode in the ocean.
तमाराधय चेत् साधो क्षीरेणोच्छसि भोजनम्
If you worship him, O virtuous one, you will obtain food with milk.
तमाराध्य विरूपाक्षं प्राप्तः क्षीरेण भोजनम्
Having worshipped Virūpākṣa, he obtained food in the form of milk.
तत्तीर्थवर्यं स महासुरो वै समाससादाथ सुपुण्यहेतोः
That great asura then approached that supreme holy place, for the sake of great merit.
पूजयित्वा सुवर्णाक्षं नैमिषं प्रययौ ततः
After worshipping Suvarṇākṣa, he then went to Naimisha.
तोम्त्याः काञ्चनाक्ष्याश्च गुरुदायाश्च मध्यतः
From the midst of Tomtī, Kāñcanākṣī, and Gurudāyā.
ऋषीनपि च संपूज्य नैमिषारण्यवासिनः
He also honored the sages dwelling in the Naimisha forest.
गयायां गोपतिं द्रष्टुं जगाम स महासुरः
That great asura went to Gayā to see the Lord of Cows.
पिण्डनिर्वपणं पुण्यं पिदृणां स चकार ह
He performed the meritorious offering of piṇḍa for his ancestors.
गदापाणिं समभ्यर्च्य गोपतिं चापि शङ्करम्
Having worshipped Gadāpāṇi and also Gopati Śaṅkara,
महानदीजले स्नात्वा सरयूमाजगाम सः
After bathing in the waters of the great river, he went to Sarayū.
उपोष्य रजनीमेकां विरजां नगरीं ययौ
Fasting for one night, he went to the city of Virajā.
दर्शनार्थ ययौ श्रीमान् अजितं पुरुषोत्तमम्
For the sake of seeing, the illustrious one went to Ajita, the Supreme Person.
षड्रात्रमुष्य तत्रैव महेन्द्रं दक्षिणं ययौ
He stayed there for six nights, then went to southern Mahendra.
दृष्ट्वार्च्य संपूज्य पितॄन् महेन्द्रं चोत्तरं गतः
Having seen, worshipped, and honored the ancestors, he went to northern Mahendra.
तत्र देववरं शंभुं गोपालं सोमपायिनम्. दृष्ट्वा स्नात्वा सोमतीर्थे सह्याचलमुपागतः
There, having seen and bathed at Soma-tīrtha, he approached Sahya mountain, after seeing the excellent god Śambhu, Gopāla, and the drinker of Soma.
सुरान् पितृन् समभ्यर्च्य पारियात्रं गिरिं गतः
Having worshipped the gods and ancestors, he went to the Pāriyātra mountain.
कशेरुदेशं चाभयेत्य विश्वरूपं ददर्श सः
Having reached the region of Kaśeru, he saw Viśvarūpa.
विश्वरूपमथात्मानं दर्शयामास योगवित्
Then the knower of yoga revealed himself as Viśvarūpa.
जगामाद्रिं स सौगन्धि प्रह्लादो मलायाचलम्
Prahāda went to the fragrant mountain, Malaya.
ततो जगाम योगात्मा द्रष्टुं विन्ध्ये सदाशिवम्
Then, the yogic soul went to see Sadashiva on the Vindhya mountain.
त्रिरात्रं समुपोष्याथ अवन्तीं नगरीं ययो
After fasting for three nights, he proceeded to the city of Avanti.
