संपूजयित्वा गोविन्दं रेवन्तं पुत्रमाप्तवान्
Having worshipped Govinda, she obtained Revanta as her son.
कान्ति विधुरवापाग्र्यां राज्यं राजा पूरूवाः
King Pūruvāḥ attained supreme beauty and kingdom.
पूजितो रूपधारी यैस्तैः प्राप्ता तु सुकामिता
Those who worshipped the lord of the stars, endowed with form, obtained their desired happiness.
नक्षत्रपुंसः परमं विधानं शृणुष्व पुण्यामिह तीर्थयात्राम
Hear now the supreme ordinance of the lord of the stars, O virtuous one, concerning pilgrimage here.
स्त्रात्वा संपूजयामास चैत्राष्टम्यां जनार्दनम्
She worshipped Janārdana on the eighth day of Caitra.
जगाम स कुरुक्षेत्रं प्रह्लादो दानवेश्वरः
Prahlāda, lord of the Daityas, went to Kurukṣetra.
उपामन्त्र्य ततः सस्नौ वेदोक्तविधिना मुने
After inviting, he bathed according to the procedure prescribed in the Vedas, O sage.
कृतशौचौ जगामाथ द्रष्टुं पुरुषकेसरिम्
Having performed purification, he went to see the lion among men.
तत्रेष्य रजनोमेकां गोकर्णं दानवो ययौ
There, O King, one Dānava went to Gokarṇa.
प्राचीने चापरे दैत्यो द्रष्टुं कामेश्वरं ययौ
Another Daitya went eastward to see Kāmeśvara.
द्रष्टुं ययौ च प्रह्लादः पुण्डरीकं महाम्भसि
Prahlāda went to see Puṇḍarīka in the great waters.
पुण्डरीकं च संपूज्य उवास दिवसत्रयम्
Having worshipped Puṇḍarīka, he stayed there for three days.
स्नात्वा तथा कृष्णतीर्थे त्रिरात्रं न्यवसच्छुचिः
After bathing at Kṛṣṇatīrtha, the pure one remained there for three nights.
जगामासौ पयोष्णायामखण्डं द्रष्टुमीश्वरम्
He went to Akhaṇḍa on the Payoṣṇī to see the Lord.
द्रष्टुं जगाम मतिमान् वितस्तायां कुमारिलम्
The wise one went to Kumārila on the Vitastā to see him.
आराध्यामानं यद्यत्र कृतं पापप्रणाशनम्
Wherever worship was performed, there the destruction of sin was accomplished.
देवप्रियार्थमसृजद्धितार्थं जगतस्तथा
For the sake of the gods’ delight and for the welfare of the world, he created them.
विधिवद्दधि च प्राश्य मणिमन्तं ततो ययौ
Having duly eaten curd, he then went to Maṇimanta.
तत्र तीर्थवरे स्नात्वा प्राजापत्ये महामतिःऽ ददर्श शंभु ब्रह्माणं देवेशं च प्रजापतिम्
There, after bathing at the excellent tīrtha of Prajāpati, the great-minded one saw Śambhu, Brahmā, the Lord of gods, and Prajāpati.
षड्रात्रं तत्र च स्थित्वा जगाम मधुनन्दिनीम्
Having stayed there for six nights, he went to Madhunandinī.
शूलबाहुं च गोविन्दं ददर्श दनुपुङ्गवः
The foremost of Dānavas saw Śūlabāhu and Govinda.
शूलं तथा वासुदेवो ममैतद् ब्रूहि पृच्छतः
Vāsudeva also (showed) the trident; tell me about this, as you ask.
कथयामास यां विष्णुर्भविष्यमनवे पुरा
He narrated that which Viṣṇu had formerly told to the future Manu.
आराधयामास विरञ्चिमारात् स तस्य तुष्टो वरदो बभूव
He worshipped Virañci from nearby, and, being pleased, he granted him a boon.
ब्रह्मर्षिशापैश्च निरीप्सितार्थो जले च वह्नौ स्वगुणोपहर्त्ता
By the curses of the Brahmarṣis, his desired object was lost, and in water and fire he was deprived of his own qualities.
आबाधमानो विचचार भूम्यां सर्वाः क्रिया नाशयदुग्रमूर्तिः
Afflicted, he wandered over the earth, and the fierce one destroyed all rites.
तैश्चापि सार्द्ध भगवाञ्जगाम हिमालयं यत्र हरस्त्रिनेत्रः
Together with them, the Blessed Lord went to the Himalayas, where Shiva, the three-eyed one, resides.
निजायुधानां च विपर्ययं तौ देवाधिपौ चक्रतुरुग्रकर्मिणौ
Those two mighty lords of the gods, fierce in their deeds, exchanged their own weapons.
मत्वाजेयौ शत्रुभिर्घोररुपौ भयास्तोये निम्नगायां विवेश
Thinking them invincible by enemies and terrible in form, he entered the river, fearful as if into a flood.
द्वयोः सशस्त्रौ तटयोर्हरीशौ प्रच्छन्नमूर्ती सहसा बभूवतुः
On the two banks, the lords of the monkeys, armed, suddenly assumed hidden forms.
