दासो ऽस्मि तुभ्यं हर पाहि मह्यं पापक्षयं मे कुरु लोकनाथ
I am your servant, O Hara; protect me. O lord of the worlds, destroy my sins.
त्रय्यारुणिस्त्रितिव्ययात्मन् पुनीहि मां त्वां शरणं गतो ऽस्मि
O embodiment of the three Vedas, O radiant one, purify me; I have come to you for refuge.
त्रैलोक्यनाथो ऽसि पुनीहि शंभो दासो ऽस्मि भीतः शरणागतस्ते
You are the lord of the three worlds; purify me, O Shambhu. I am your servant, fearful, and have sought your shelter.
कामारिणा निर्जितमानसेन प्रसादये त्वां शिरसा नतो ऽस्मि
With a mind conquered by the enemy of desire, I honor you, bowing my head in reverence.
त्राहि मां देव ईशान सर्वपापहरो भव
Rescue me, O Lord, O Ishana, remover of all sins, be gracious.
सृष्टः पापसमाचारो मे प्रसन्नो भवेश्वर
Though my conduct has been sinful, O Lord of existence, be pleased with me.
त्वं मङ्गल्यस्त्वमोङ्कारस्त्वमीशानो ध्रुवो ऽव्ययः
You are auspiciousness, you are Om, you are Ishana, eternal and imperishable.
त्वमिन्द्रस्त्वं वषट्कारो धर्मस्त्वं च सुरोत्तमः
You are Indra, you are the Vaṣaṭ call, you are Dharma, and you are the best among the gods.
त्वया सर्वमिदं व्याप्तं जगत् स्थावरजङ्गमम्
By you, this entire world, both immobile and mobile, is pervaded.
विजयस्त्वं सहस्राक्षो विरूपाक्षो महाभुजः
You are victory, you are thousand-eyed, you are Virupaksha, mighty-armed.
गीर्वाणपतिरव्यग्रो रुद्रः पशुपतिः शिवः
You are the lord of the celestials, unwavering, Rudra, lord of creatures, Shiva.
जयश्च शूलपाणिस्त्वं त्राहि मां शरणागतम्
You are victorious, you hold the trident; rescue me, who has sought refuge.
प्रीतियुक्तः विङ्गलाक्षो हैरण्याक्षिमुवाच ह
Filled with affection, the copper-eyed one spoke to the golden-eyed.
वरं वरय भद्रं ते यमिच्छसि विनाम्बिकाम्
Choose a boon, auspicious one, whatever you desire except for Ambika.
वन्दामि चरणौ मातुर्वन्दनीया ममाम्बिका
I bow to the feet of the mother, my Ambika, worthy of reverence.
शारीरं मानसं वाग्जं दुष्कृतं दुर्विचिन्तितम्
Whether bodily, mental, verbal, sinful, or ill-conceived actions.
स्थिरास्तु त्वयि भक्तिस्तु वरमेतत् प्रयच्छ मे
May unwavering devotion to you be granted to me as this boon.
मुक्तो ऽसि दैत्यभावाच्च भृङ्गी गणपतिर्भव
You are freed from the nature of a demon; Bhṛṅgī, become the leader of the attendants.
निर्मार्ज्य निजहस्तेन चक्रे निर्व्रणमन्धकम्
He cleansed Andhaka with his own hand, making him free from wounds.
ते निश्चेरुर्महात्मानो नमस्यन्तस्त्रिलोचनम्
Those great souls departed, bowing to the three-eyed one.
भृङ्गिनं दर्शयामास ध्रुवं नैषो ऽन्धकति हि
He showed Bhṛṅgī, saying, 'This is certainly not Andhaka.'
गणाधिपत्यमापन्नं प्रशशंसुर्वृषध्वजम्
They praised the bull-bannered one, who had attained the leadership of the attendants.
गच्छध्वं स्वानि धिष्ण्यानि भुञ्जध्वं त्रिदिवं सुखम्
Go to your own abodes; enjoy happiness in heaven.
तत्र स्वकार्यं कृत्वैव पश्चाद् यातु त्रिविष्टपम्
There, having accomplished your own tasks, afterwards proceed to the highest heaven.
ते विसृष्टा महेशेन सुरा जग्मुस्त्रक्षिविष्टपम्
Released by Maheśa, the gods went to their celestial realms.
गतेषु शक्रपाग्र्येषु देवेषु भगवाञ्चिशवः
When the foremost of the gods, led by Śakra, had departed, the blessed Śiva—
गणाश्च शङ्करं दृष्ट्वा स्वं स्वं वाहनमास्थिताः
And the attendants, seeing Śaṅkara, mounted their respective vehicles.
यत्र कामदुधा गावः सर्वकामफलद्रुमाः
Where wish-fulfilling cows and trees yielding all desires are found—
स्वां स्वां गतिं प्रयातेषु प्रमथेषु महेश्वरः
When the attendants had gone their own ways, Maheśvara—
द्वाभ्यां वर्षसहस्राभ्यां पुनरागाद्वरो गृह्म्
After two thousand years, the boon-holder returned.
