सोमराजेति विख्यातश्चक्रमालाविभूषितः
Somaraja, renowned and adorned with a garland of discs.
स्वच्छन्दराजो विख्यातः इन्द्रायुधसमप्रभः
Svacchandaraja, famed, brilliant as Indra’s weapon.
ख्यातो ललितराजेति सौभाञ्जनसमप्रभः
Lalitaraja, known, radiant like the vessel of beauty.
विघ्नराजो ऽष्टमः प्रोक्तो भैरवाष्टकमुच्यते
Vighnaraja is declared the eighth; this is called the Bhairava Eight.
छत्रवद् धारितो ब्रह्मन् भैरवेण त्रिशुलिना
O Brahman, upheld like a parasol by Bhairava, the wielder of the trident.
येनाकष्ठं महादेवो निमग्नः सप्तमूर्तिमान्
By whom Mahadeva, possessing seven forms, was plunged into hardship.
ललाटफलके तस्माज्जाता कन्यासृगाप्लुता
From his forehead arose a maiden, drenched in blood.
तस्मादङ्गरपुञ्जाभो बालकः समजायत
From her, a boy was born, resembling a cluster of limbs.
कन्या चोत्कृत्य संजातमसृग्विलिलिहे ऽद्भुता
The maiden, after being cut, wondrously licked up the blood that had emerged.
शङ्करो वरदो लोके श्रेयोर्ऽथाय वचो महत्
Shankara, the bestower of boons in the world, spoke great words for the sake of welfare.
यक्षविद्याधराश्चैव मानवाश्च शुभङ्करि
Yakshas, Vidyadharas, and humans, O Auspicious One.
चर्च्चिकेति सुभं नाम यस्मादा रुधिरचर्चिता
She is called Carcika, the auspicious one, because she was smeared with blood.
महीं समन्ताद् विचचार सुन्दरी स्थानं गता हैङ्गुलताद्रिमुत्तमम्
The beautiful one wandered all around the earth, reaching the excellent place, the mountain Haingulata.
ग्रहाधिपत्यं जगातां शुभाशुभं भविष्यति त्वद्वरागं महात्मन
By your favor, O great soul, rulership over planets and the world, auspicious and inauspicious, will come to be.
चकार संशुष्कतनुं त्वशोणितं त्वगस्थिशेषं भगवान् स भैरवः
The Lord Bhairava made the body dry, leaving only skin and bones, without blood.
ततः प्रजानां बहुरूपमीशं नाथं हि सर्वस्य चराचरस्य
Then, the Lord of all moving and unmoving beings, the master of many forms of creatures.
सर्वैः सुराद्यैर्नतमीड्यमाद्यं ततो ऽन्धकः स्तोत्रमिदं चकार
Praised and worshipped by all gods and others, the primordial one; then Andhaka composed this hymn.
विंशार्द्धबाहो भुजगेशहार त्रिनेत्र मां पाहि विपन्नबुद्धिम्
O twenty-armed one, bearer of the serpent-lord, three-eyed, protect me whose mind is afflicted.
त्रैलोक्यमातुर्गुरवे वृषाङ्क भीतः शरण्यं शरणागतो ऽस्मि
O bearer of the bull, revered as the mother of the three worlds, I am fearful and have come to you for refuge, seeking shelter.
भीमं च यक्षा मनुजा महेश्वरं भूताश्च भूताधिपमामनन्ति
The Yakshas, humans, and the mighty Lord, as well as beings, all call the lord of beings Maheshvara.
दासो ऽस्मि तुभ्यं हर पाहि मह्यं पापक्षयं मे कुरु लोकनाथ
I am your servant, O Hara; protect me. O lord of the worlds, destroy my sins.
त्रय्यारुणिस्त्रितिव्ययात्मन् पुनीहि मां त्वां शरणं गतो ऽस्मि
O embodiment of the three Vedas, O radiant one, purify me; I have come to you for refuge.
त्रैलोक्यनाथो ऽसि पुनीहि शंभो दासो ऽस्मि भीतः शरणागतस्ते
You are the lord of the three worlds; purify me, O Shambhu. I am your servant, fearful, and have sought your shelter.
कामारिणा निर्जितमानसेन प्रसादये त्वां शिरसा नतो ऽस्मि
With a mind conquered by the enemy of desire, I honor you, bowing my head in reverence.
त्राहि मां देव ईशान सर्वपापहरो भव
Rescue me, O Lord, O Ishana, remover of all sins, be gracious.
सृष्टः पापसमाचारो मे प्रसन्नो भवेश्वर
Though my conduct has been sinful, O Lord of existence, be pleased with me.
त्वं मङ्गल्यस्त्वमोङ्कारस्त्वमीशानो ध्रुवो ऽव्ययः
You are auspiciousness, you are Om, you are Ishana, eternal and imperishable.
त्वमिन्द्रस्त्वं वषट्कारो धर्मस्त्वं च सुरोत्तमः
You are Indra, you are the Vaṣaṭ call, you are Dharma, and you are the best among the gods.
त्वया सर्वमिदं व्याप्तं जगत् स्थावरजङ्गमम्
By you, this entire world, both immobile and mobile, is pervaded.
विजयस्त्वं सहस्राक्षो विरूपाक्षो महाभुजः
You are victory, you are thousand-eyed, you are Virupaksha, mighty-armed.
