Together with the mighty Skanda, eager to slay the great demons.
O heroes of great strength, quickly descend to the earth.
Flying swiftly toward that place, they made a terrifying sound.
They entered Pātāla, the abode of the demons, through a chasm in the ocean.
With Virocana, Jambha, Kujambha, and the demon as well.
Thinking, 'What is this?' they quickly went to Andhaka.
Disturbed, the demons consulted together about that sound, O Nārada.
Then Pātālaketu, the lord of the demons, arrived in Rasātala.
Approaching Andhaka, he spoke words of distress.
I have made every effort, with force, to destroy him.
O king, I do not know that man against whom I sent my arrow.
He vanished from the hermitage, and then followed me from behind.
Out of fear of him, I reached the southern ocean.
Some roar like thunder, while others roar in reply.
Others, armed with weapons of gold, say, 'Let us kill Tāraka today.'
Abandoning the great ocean, I have fallen, overwhelmed by fear.
Out of fear of that, he completely abandoned his own city of Hiranyapura.
Hearing those words, Andhaka addressed Meghasvana, speaking as follows:
Both Mahisha and Taraka, along with Bana, the foremost among the powerful,
Together with their own followers, they went out to the battlefield, ready for war.
There, O sage, the Daityas arrived, armed and accompanied by their forces.
They charged suddenly, and the fierce host of Mothers also advanced.
Enraged Rudra struck down the enemy army, like beasts slaughtered by a master of cattle.
Taking up his axe in hand, he slew all the great asuras.
With his mouth wide open, he hurled chariots, elephants, and horses together.
He uprooted and cast down vehicles with their riders into the great ocean.
He crushed them like a minister subduing a king, wielding his spear with mastery.
He split the Daityas and Danavas in two, in three, and into many pieces.
Here and there could be seen heaps of Danujas lying like corpses.
The hero struck down the asuras, along with their horses, chariots, and elephants.
