With his chariot shattered by the discus, Nishumbha, enraged, approached Mridani.
Afflicted by paralysis, delusion, and fever, he became as if painted, motionless.
With this strength, the gods have been conquered by you; with this power, you seek me.
After reflecting, he spoke these words, the best among speakers.
You will be shattered into a hundred pieces, O timid one, like a clay pot in water.
Therefore, I resolve; you, with wide eyes, accept me.
Turn your mind away from battle; become my wife at this moment.
With a deep, serious expression, Niśumbha laughed and spoke.
If you desire marriage here, then defeat me in combat.
Then, Nārada hurled it swiftly toward Kauśikī.
She cut it together with the hide; it was as if something wondrous had occurred.
She rushed at the one born from the treasury, her speed equal to the wind.
Ambikā cut it with a razor-edged weapon in battle, along with the mace.
The mothers beginning with Caṇḍā, delighted, made a clattering sound.
Joyful, they cried out, 'Victory! Triumph!' when the enemy was struck down.
The gods showered flowers upon Kātyāyanī.
Mounting Vṛndāraka, holding a noose in his hand, he approached.
He took up four arrows, radiant like the crescent moon.
Then Ambikā, smiling playfully, struck the two jars with two arrows.
As the head of the king of mountains is struck by Indra's thunderbolt.
Śivā cut off the head adorned with earrings with an arrow.
Just as the crane is struck by Mahāsena, the buffalo is struck.
Having arrived at that great mountain, bowing humbly, they spoke these words of praise to the goddess.
Salutations to you, giver of the kingdoms of Hari and Hara; salutations to you, accomplisher of the deeds of the sacrificers.
Salutations to you, destroyer of the buffalo demon; salutations to you, praised by Hari, Hara, and Bhāskara.
Salutations to you, remover of the world's suffering, wielder of the trident; salutations to you, Nārāyaṇī, bearer of the discus.
Salutations to you, bearer of the thunderbolt, with the elephant banner; salutations to you, Kaumāri, who rides the peacock.
Salutations to you, who ride upon the donkey's back; salutations to you, remover of all suffering, who are the universe itself.
Salutations to you, who are all-pervading, three-eyed; repeated salutations to you, bestower of boons—be gracious.
You are difficult to behold, O Nārasiṃhī, with a roaring voice; likewise you are Indrāṇī, armed with the thunderbolt; you are Mārī, clad in hide, delighting in the path of skulls, a Yoginī accomplished in yoga.
