Then the Ashvins laughed and again addressed her.
O lovely one, you are neglected here, deprived of enjoyment of desires.
For the sake of your husband, do not waste your youth like one with a divine womb.
I am devoted to Cyavana, the sage; do not doubt me thus.
Hearing their words, she spoke to Bhargava.
They said to the princess, 'Let your husband enter the lake.'
At that time, the Ashvins also entered the lake, O beloved.
All appeared in divine forms, young and adorned with celestial earrings.
Together they said, 'Choose any one among us, O auspicious one.'
She, observing all standing there in identical forms,
Cyavana, having obtained his wife, acquired the desired youth and form.
Now that I am endowed with beauty and youth,
Therefore, out of affection, I shall make you both drinkers of Soma.
Hearing this, the two gods, their minds delighted, went to heaven.
Because of that act, the two physicians of the gods were reproached.
I shall strike you with a thunderbolt, terrible in form and exceedingly fierce; recognizing the strength of Vāsava, he quickly considered.
I shall worship the great god Mahādeva, the lord who is capable, the protector of the world, the creator and destroyer.
Having spoken thus, O goddess, Cyavana went to the great Kāla forest; with faith, he worshipped there, that great-souled Cyavana.
Pleased with him, Rudra granted him freedom from the thunderbolt.
By the power of this liṅga, which was fully satisfied by worship,
Let the Aśvins become drinkers of Soma, O slayer of Bala; then Śakra replied, bowing his head in reverence.
From now on, the Aśvins shall be drinkers of Soma, O Bhārgava.
Let there be no anger in you regarding their hospitality, O possessor of austerity; this is the power of this liṅga, by which I have been subdued.
Therefore, your name shall become renowned on earth.
This became known throughout the three worlds as Cyavaneśvara; from that moment, all sins arising from birth are destroyed for them.
