आराधयध्वं देवेशं लिंगं सर्वार्थसाधकम्
Worship the Lord of gods, the liṅga that fulfills all desires.
उर्वश्या मम वाक्येन भर्त्ता प्राप्तः पुरूरवाः
By the words of Urvaśī, Purūravas became her husband.
महाकालवने रम्ये लिंगाराधनकाम्यया
In the beautiful great Kāla forest, with the desire to worship the liṅga,
रंभे प्राप्स्यसि सौभाग्यं स्वर्गलोकं यशस्विनि
O renowned Rambhā, you will obtain good fortune and the heavenly world.
तस्मात्त्रिविष्टपं गच्छ संघेनानेन पूजिता अतोप्सरेश्वरः ख्यातो ययौ ख्यातिं जगत्त्रये ।। 5.2.17.
Therefore, go to heaven, honored by this assembly; thus the Lord of the apsarases became famous throughout the three worlds.
ये समाराधयिष्यंति भक्त्या चाप्सरसेश्वरम्
Those who worship the Lord of the apsarases with devotion—
प्रेरयिष्यंति ये लोके दर्शनार्थं यशस्विनि
Those who will send others in the world, O illustrious one, for the sake of seeing you—
किं दानैः किं तपोभिश्च किं यज्ञैर्बहुदक्षिणैः
What use are gifts, what use are austerities, and what use are sacrifices with many offerings?
एष ते कथितो देवि प्रभावः पापनाशनः
This, O goddess, is the power of yours I have described, which destroys all sin.
यस्य दर्शनमात्रेण कलहो नैव जायते
By merely seeing whom, conflict does not arise at all—
सर्वदुःखोपशमनं सर्वपाप प्रमोचनम्
Who brings relief from all suffering and releases from all sin—
मम देवि त्वया सार्द्धं कलहः समपद्यत
O goddess, with you, a quarrel happened even with me.
यदा त्वं हिमशैलस्य दुहिता वरवर्णिनि
When you, O beautiful one, daughter of the snowy mountain—
विनिवृत्ते विवाहे च त्वया सार्द्धं वरानने
When the marriage was withdrawn, O lovely-faced one, together with you—
नीलोत्पलनिभप्रख्या नीलकुंचितमूर्द्धजा मध्ये समुपविष्टासि कृष्णांजनसमप्रभा
With hair dark as blue lotuses, curled and shining, you sat in the midst, radiant as black antimony.
कालि सुंदरि मत्पार्श्वे वल्लभे त्वमुपाविश
O Kālī, beautiful one, beloved, sit by my side.
भुजंगीवासिता शुभ्रे संश्लिष्टा चंदने तरौ
Clad in serpents, O pure one, embraced by sandalwood trees—
इत्युक्तासि मया देवि गिरिजे चारुहासिनि
Thus you were addressed by me, O goddess, O Girijā, with a lovely smile.
यदा त्वया मदर्थे हि प्रेरिता वेदपारगाः 5.2.
When, for my sake, you sent forth those learned in the Vedas—
तदा त्वया मदर्थेऽपि प्रार्थितो जनको मम
Then, for my sake as well, you entreated my father.
यदाप्युक्तं त्वया दैन्यान्मदर्थे गच्छ नारद
And when you said, in distress for my sake, 'Go, Nārada.'
सत्येयं लौकिकी गाथा न वृथा परिजायते
This worldly saying is indeed true; it never proves false.
अवश्यमर्थी प्राप्नोति खंडनां तुंडमुंडनाम्
The seeker must certainly obtain rejection, insult, and humiliation.
तस्या मे नियतस्त्वेष ह्यवमानः पदेपदे
For her, this disrespect from me is certain at every step.
नाकुलीना वृथाचारा न दुष्टा न समत्सरा
She is not of the mongoose lineage, not given to vain conduct, not wicked, nor envious.
अकुलीनो वृथाचारो मात्सर्येणाश्रितः सदा
He who is not of noble lineage, who acts in vain, is always possessed by envy.
आदित्यस्त्वां विजानातु भगवान्द्वादशात्मकः
May the blessed Sun, composed of twelve forms, recognize you.
पूषादेवो विजानाति द्वादशात्मा दिवाकरः
The god Pūṣā, the twelve-formed illuminator, knows you.
यत्तु मामाह कृष्णेति महाकालेति विश्रुतः 5.2.
That which was said of me as 'Krishna,' renowned as 'Mahakala,'
निदर्शनार्थं न द्वेषाच्छ्रुत्वा तं क्षंतुमर्हसि
It was spoken for the sake of illustration, not out of hatred; hearing this, you should forgive.
