"Go swiftly, though distressed, to the delightful great Kāla forest; worship the supreme liṅga known as Īśāneśvara."
"In the former Īśāna epoch, by the grace of Īśāna, the highest place was attained, even upon the head of Śaṃkara."

Hearing Nārada's words, the gods became joyful in heart.

All stationary beings, all creatures, and all moving things—
The sky is your head, O gods; the moon and sun are your eyes.
Your arms are all the directions, and your belly is indeed the great ocean.

And, O god, not even through their efforts did they attain the supreme liberation.
Having worshipped you, all of them bow to you in every way.
Enveloped in smoke, a great flame by which that demon was burned.

They attained their own domains through the power of this liṅga.
It is our firm conviction that sovereignty is the nature of this one.
Those who worship the one called Īśāna and Īśvara—
Ever worshipped by the gods, and by hosts of gandharvas and apsarases.
Brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas, śūdras, women, and maidens—
Whoever, established in discipline, properly performs the viewing—
You are always capable in all actions, O illustrious one.
Thus, O goddess, your power, destroyer of sin, has been described to you.
By whose mere sight the world attains its desired objects—

In the forest called Nandana, O goddess, endowed with all enjoyments—
Filled with parrots, cuckoos, chakoras, and kuraras—
There, the enemy of Vṛtra, honored by the foremost of the gods, was seated.
Then, her mind wandered, and she became distracted, recalling something out of carelessness.
