Those who see and worship the god Ḍamarukeśvara,
Shall obtain the fruit of performing hundreds of properly conducted Cāndrāyaṇa rites,
Those who, with devotion, behold the liṅga of Ḍamarukeśvara at this place,
They too shall certainly attain the eternal world of Rudra.
Freed from mental sins, they will reach the supreme state; and, upon seeing this, people will obtain the merit of a thousand cows.
He who, steadfast in battle, beholds Ḍamarukeśvara,
O Devi, this power of his, destroyer of sin, has been told to you.
It is always praised as the eternal remover of all sins.
At the beginning of the kalpa, O Devi, this liṅga emerged.
There was then neither wind, nor water, nor sky, nor planets.
From this liṅga arose the entire world, both immobile and mobile.
From this liṅga were born the lineages of gods, sages, and ancestors.
As many creations as there are, and as many dissolutions likewise,
The worlds beginning with Bhūrloka, and the seven nether realms that are remembered,
All that is visible and invisible, O beautiful-faced one, arises from the Liṅga; thus they declare the subtle, eternal Person, whose nature is both existence and non-existence.
It is steadfast, imperishable, ageless, immeasurable, and dependent on none other.
It is without beginning or end, the womb of the universe, unfading, born of the three qualities.
At the end of dissolution, by that, this entire divine creation existed.
I, awakened upon the earth, am the beginningless origin of the world.
The Lord of the world quickly revealed both Prakṛti and Puruṣa.
Just as mere proximity causes fragrance to arise through agitation, so the deity is said to be beginningless, the supreme cause of the universe.
When the primordial matter is agitated, O Pārvatī, it is by that Liṅga.
Within the cosmic egg exists all the worlds, with gods, demons, and humans.
He alone was the agitator before, and he is the one agitated, O Lord of the earth.
He, the Lord of the universe, was born; though devoid of qualities, he became endowed with the quality of passion.
In the state of Brahmā, he creates the worlds, then, by the predominance of purity,
Then, arising from the quality of darkness, as Rudra, he absorbs the entire universe.
Just as previously the irrigator, the cultivator, and the protector are like the harvester,
In the state of Brahmā, he creates the worlds; as Rudra, he also dissolves them.
Passion is Brahmā, darkness is Rudra, purity is Viṣṇu, the Lord of the world.
